How exactly will Cruz get anything done when everyone in Congress hates him? [vanity]

Posted on 01/21/2016 10:03:02 PM PST by springwater13

It's a serious question. What's he going to do when Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell tell him to go to hell? Is he going to tell them they are liars on television and then call into Mark Levin's show and whine? Being President doesn't work like that.

Is he going to be like President Obama and try to use executive orders to ram his legislation through?

Compare that to Trump's approach from Art of the Deal where he asks for 3x more than what he wants, completely disorients his competitors and shakes the ground beneath everyone, and then gets what he wants.

Maybe banning all Muslims to the country isn't realistic. But surely banning Syrian refugees and hell all refugees until we figure out what the hell is going on isn't a radical position right now. It was a radical idea before Trump. That's Art of the Deal.

And just think how a shutdown managed by Cruz would go. He would be able to tell people that only non-essential services get shut down. He might be able to use some discretion to shut down a lot of government pork.

Yes, I have a lot of poplars, but I call them cottonwoods.

Hey, Trump has made being a RINO cool.

Curz is just another Harvard law school grad...but he missed the law class that taught the definition of ‘natural born’, not presidential material.

I know, I know he is on a mission from Jesus.

Would you object to Trump working with RATS and The GOP to
get Cruz on the Supreme Court? That would be a good deal, would it not?

Cruz comes across as a lone wolf, which sounds better in theory than practice.

He's obviously never read Kipling which isn't surprising for a Princeton/Harvard guy.

For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.

A one-term CONSERVATIVE Senator is a lot better than a one-term radical left-wing Muslim-loving America-hating Senator.

And Obama has been extremely successful at getting his agenda pushed through regardless of his prior one-term status. No reason to doubt Cruz would be any less successful for conservatives. The key is having values and not having to look at a poll to determine which values you need to say you have or say you’re dropping on any given day.

I have no real evidence that either of those statements are true.

Have things gotten any better since Reagan left office in 1989? We’ve had it with Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama. Trying the same old thing hasn’t worked for 27 years. A career politician lies his way into office and then doesn’t keep any of the promises. It’s business as usual. The border is still open and people keep flowing across.

Time to try something different. I’m voting for Trump.

“You want to scare Congress, just start having their constituents bombard them with a ton of phone calls and e-mails.”

Agreed, but Cruz can’t even get his home state to support him. That’s a long way from motivating the general public to do his work.

I’d support the Rats and the GOP not objecting to the nomination.

LOL. I’m not sure how that’s relevant. I’ve also had threads with hundreds of replies, and at least one with 1000s. I still don’t know why you have to bring a deciduous tree into this.

Says who? There aren’t any recent polls of Texas AFAIK. The most recent one was months ago and they were tied. Cruz has risen overall since then, so I’d wager he’s now on top in Texas.

Trump is criticizing Cruz for calling McConnell what he is - a liar.

Why is Trump trying to ingratiate himself to one of the most despicable RINO in Washington - especially now, and especially after he called everyone in Washington a moron?

Alienating yourself from those that you have to work with is not wise.
