It's a serious question. What's he going to do when Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell tell him to go to hell? Is he going to tell them they are liars on television and then call into Mark Levin's show and whine? Being President doesn't work like that.
Is he going to be like President Obama and try to use executive orders to ram his legislation through?
Compare that to Trump's approach from Art of the Deal where he asks for 3x more than what he wants, completely disorients his competitors and shakes the ground beneath everyone, and then gets what he wants.
Maybe banning all Muslims to the country isn't realistic. But surely banning Syrian refugees and hell all refugees until we figure out what the hell is going on isn't a radical position right now. It was a radical idea before Trump. That's Art of the Deal.
“Not just true for Cruz, but a horrible president has been set.”
The worst. And a horrible precedent, too.
Congress won’t be smooth sailing for either President Trump or President Cruz
BECAUSE
Congress actually despises both Trump and Cruz.
This is sadly funny, it looks like it was written by the GOPe.
You know Trump is leading by 15 to 20 points in every state except Alberta.
(I had to steal that one...it was funny! sorry Colonel_Flagg take no offense)
Hey Nick.
You are a poplar dude.
Only 1 one post on your Rhino Thread. Ha.
Meh....
I represhent that remark.
Part of the problem is you get all your information about Trump from Trump. Maybe you should research a little more in-depth. I didn't just listen to Obama speeches back in 2008.
Replace them with H-1B visa holders.
Problem is that Trump wants:
Partial Birth Abortion
Wealth Tax
Eminent Domain
Amesty
Crony Capitalist Deal with the establishment
Mitch McConnell as Majority Leader
TARP
These are all items he’s expressed support for.
If Cruz wins the presidency he is going to become a lot more popular, and unlike Jimmy Carter, he has been around Washington for many years.
How would Trump get anything done?
You would be amazed how quickly hate goes away once someone is President
The establishment hated Reagan too. A President has the power of the bully pulpit. Cruz will be in the top seat, and when he says he wants to do what he campaigned and won on, RINOs won’t have a case to make against him with the public.
Do you want the return of G.W. Bush who never met a bill he didn’t sign? Gridlock isn’t a bad thing. And we still get Cruz to appoint court justices, deregulate the alphabet agencies, control military policy, give everyone waivers to Obamacare, enforce existing law on the border, undo all Obama’s EOs, etc.
It’s a silly concern given how much power the presidency itself has. How many new bills do we need to pass anyway? Ultimately any fight will come down to public opinion. It’s hard to go against it. Cruz will have the power to sway opinion to his side to some extent, much moreso than random Senators and congressmen.
He will follow the Constitution and use the bully pulpit.
It is only the Left that hates him.
But I am very clear that Trump is the worst "GOP" "Candidate." Including all the ones who dropped out. No way would I trust a big government liberal, who changes his positions all the time, and has a much more checkered business past than the media will tell you. And if anyone actually read his deposition from a 2000s lawsuit that he lost, they will realize the man has serious issues. Not to mention the fact that he's a wimp, riddled with insecurities.
I’d love to see them try. Would you want to surrender in advance and nominate the candidate the Rats and GOP will enjoy working with?
“He will follow the Constitution and use the bully pulpit.”
Sounds like he will have a pen and phone.
