Will Smith will be joining his wife Jada Pinkett Smith in boycotting the 88th Academy Awards over this year’s all-white acting nominees, the actor said on Thursday’s Good Morning America on ABC.
“My wife’s not going. It would be awkward for me to show up with Charlize [Theron],†Smith joked to Robin Roberts. “No, we’ve discussed it, and we’re a part of this community, but at this current time, we’re uncomfortable to stand there and say this is okay.â€
Pinkett Smith posted a video online last Sunday, in which she lamented the treatment of black actors in entertainment.
“Maybe it is time that we pull back our resources, and we put them back into our communities, into our programs, and we make programs for ourselves that acknowledge us in ways that we see fit that are just as good as the so-called mainstream ones,†she said.
The actress’s statement came following an announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) that all 20 Oscar nominations in the four major acting categories had gone to white actors for the second consecutive year.
Smith, who many believed would pick up a nomination this year for his role in Concussion, was among those left off the ballot.

I haven't watched the Oscars in years. I used to watch the show just because it was a cultural event, so I could join in the discussion about it the following day. I no longer care.
It's telling that out of the top 20 films in the American Film Institute's best all-time film list, more than half didn't win best picture - and some weren't even nominated. Some lost to some pretty decent films; but some lost to films that are forgettable.
Idiots. The more black people who stay away from the Oscars, the award show gets even whiter, which I thought was the original complaint...just saying.

Forget the Oscars, aren’t they outraged that the Nobel Prizes aren’t given to enough “diverse” candidates?

Multiculturalism, diversity, non-discrimination, and tolerance are examples of the failure to pronounce moral judgment. Nothing can corrupt and disintegrate a culture or a man's character as thoroughly as does the precept of moral agnosticism.
This might shock you but not every man is attracted to big blondes. There are many reasons to criticize Columba, but height is not one of them.

This woman makes my skin crawl. Every interview I’ve ever seen her in she comes across as a rich, spoiled, biatch.
The last interview I saw had her next to her teenage daughter and she was telling her teenage daughter how much she(the mother)was feeling about being a mother and how she had to sacrifice her time to be a mother.
Beyond dysfunctional.
