Times that try men's souls vs living in interesting times

We are currently experiencing both and it is challenging.

I pray FR survives this election. Our forum has never been so divided. But even more so, I pray our divided nation survives. If traitor Hillary or communist Sanders is elected, it will be difficult to continue as a free nation without invoking certain clauses in the Declaration. Our constitution is certainly being put to the test.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness

God is in charge. The original colonies were established mostly in the name of Judeo-Christianity and primarily for religious freedom. And our current government was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.

Republican, democrat, conservative, liberal, progressive are all political constructs and are useful, but are not the ultimate causes.

God, family, country, liberty are our causes.

We are all created in God's image. God gave us life and liberty. He taught us how to live, how to work, how to fend for ourselves and family, how to govern ourselves, how to defend ourselves our family our country, and how to worship and be faithful. Most of us on FR believe He had a mighty hand on the founding of our nation and that we should continue seeking Him as our guiding light.

Today we are caught up in what could very well be the climatic struggle for our nation's survival. We've been struggling in this nation against godless progressivism for at least 100 years. And, of course, against Satanic Islamic totalitarianism for 1400 years. Now we have the godless progressives, Marxist communists and Satanic Islamic fascist totalitarians all joining forces to try for the final destruction of our Judeo-Christian nation.

We are being invaded from within and without and we will fail as a nation if we do not recognize this and we fail to unite as a free people under God to fight for our survival.

At first I was very skeptical about Donald Trump entering the race. I'm a great believer in Ted Cruz and his godly conservatism. And I pray that if he's the candidate, that the nation bands together and grants him a landslide victory and a mandate to secure our nation and set it back on the righteous path.

But I have to admit that Trump surprised me and got my patriotic emotions stirring again. He is obviously not the evangelical constitutional conservative that Cruz is, but does appear to be a powerful leader with a love for America and freedom. And he's proving that he can pull in large crowds and great numbers in the polls.

As I said, I was skeptical at first, but after watching him campaign and learning some of the details about his Reagan-like tax plan and his determination to secure our borders and secure our nation I became a little more interested. And his non-PC approach to handling the media and the GOPe intrigued me.

His bold statements that we should build a wall, enforce the law, deport them ALL, end the sanctuary cities, end the anchor babies were shocking to most of the political class, but as his polling numbers attest, are exactly what the people want. Even more shocking were his bold statements of going after the families and the mosques of the terrorists and even slapping a moratorium on Muslim immigration. Shocking, but again, exactly what we need if we are to survive the war the Muslims are waging against us.

The political class to a man immediately rejected these bold statements as being unconstitutional and un-American, but as they see the people are for them, they are starting to come around.

Am I totally sold on Trump? Not yet. But if he continues as he is and doesn't blowup, he could very well be our nominee. And if so, I will support him to the hilt.

We have two great candidates in Cruz and Trump and I hope neither are knocked out too soon. We have RINO amnesty pimps Rubio, Kasich, Bush, et al, lurking just behind. And the GOPe is far from dead.

Go, Cruz, Go!

Go, Trump, Go!

Either way, we win, they lose.

And I pray one of these two gets it and that we can all join forces against the true enemy when he does.

God us all and bless America.

Perfectly said. If Trump is the nominee and wins, I’ll be happy. If Cruz is the nominee and wins, I’ll be happy.

If, in the next couple months, we devolve into such vitriol that neither of them are the nominee, or divide ourselves so that the Dem nominee wins, we all lose.

Amen! Mr. Trump may not even realize it (yet), but I believe he is being used by God, answering the prayers for the restoration of this nation by so many Christians.

Sarah Palin was amazing today in her speech. Mr. Trump clearly respects and adores her and what she stands for.

Whereas previously, Traitor McCain shoved her to the wolves, THIS TIME Mr. Trump has her back. She is unleashed to blast the Truth!

This one really bears repeating, Jim.

Tempers are hot because of what the political establishment and our sworn enemies have been doing to us and they have all been getting away with it. It is natural that people get emotionally excited about their favorite candidate who they see as a possible way out of this horrible mess and therefore most have become fiercely partisan.

But,... it is crucial we hang together or (as Ben Franklin said) we shall surely all hang separately!

We all have to appreciate your post, and understand the strain that all the vitriol must cause you, both personally and professionally.

In your shoes, I can’t imagine what all this fighting might mean to you, and for FR.

We would all miss each other if we fail you, even though many friends and pals are fighting right now for two uniquely different candidates.

Sarah and Trump have been friends since 2008, if not before. He has been there for her and her family, from the first, when she has been attacked .

How many supposed "TRUE CONSERVATIVES" have EVER stood up for and with her, NOT expecting anything FROM her? But that's exactly what Trump has and continues to do.

Yes, we may just be seeing GOD'S hand in this election. Never forget, GOD acts in mysterious ways, HIS wonders to perform. We may not see nor understand, but yes, Trump is the leader and man that we have been hoping would run and win.

Jim, at the risk of sounding like a broken record -- I've FReepmailed both you and our dearest Onyx about this -- we could use this to end the FReepathon by this weekend. I won't claim credit for this idea because it belongs to Hoosiermama.

Her idea was to channel the bitterness of the Trump-Cruz conflict into something more constructive. We would have people contribute to the FReepathon in Trump's name or Cruz's name. This would permit Trump supporters and Cruz supporters to see who could raise more money for FR.

I happen to like both Trump and Cruz for different reasons. I also happen to like Christie and Rand Paul for different reasons. As far as those not running this year, I happen to like Giuliani and Sarah Palin for different reasons. Ideally, I would like to use DNA technology to extract the best parts of all six people and build Super Conservative President.

As FReeper #581, it is incumbent upon me to set a good example for all the newbies. (I regard anybody who registered after 1/1/1998 as a newbie.) I would be willing to start this effort by writing two checks for $50 each, one to be tabulated in the Trump column and the other in the Cruz column.

I would ask supporters of both candidates to put their money where their mouth is. Maybe we can raise enough money to finish off this FReepathon by the weekend. As they say in Yiddish, "Tochus affen tasch!" (Literally, "Put your a$$ on the table.")

I have to keep reminding myself that Trump is essentially doing this for all of us without asking for much else except our votes. The man could pack up all his millions/billions and get the hell out of dodge. Instead he stays, turns his company over to his kids, and is devoting his last Act to the betterment of this country. Conservative, liberal ...whatever. He’s a man who is DEVOTED to this country — to Americans, not every last illegal immigrant, and to our veterans especially, a group that deserves every last drop of gratitude we could ever muster.

I think it’s time we focused on that, and not necessarily parse out every issue on whether he leans right or left. He probably leans a little left in some directions, and it seems more right ...as do many people. I dare say it ...let AMERICANS win this time!!
