Thankfully, no; but they still influence through language in the English-speaking parts of the world. Americans have to get over their sentimental memories of the British being our cousins, allies and friends. Many of the British people are still that way; but the British people have even less to say about their governance than we do.

Britain has been socialist for a long time now. More than half the people say they are not Christian. UK is under the governance of the European Union, which is full of the wackiness that has allowed cultural jihad, rape jihad and a powerful brand of dhimmitude to infiltrate UK, Holland, France, Germany, Norway and Sweden. Now, even the Pope thinks appeasement and apology for the plain words of the gospels seems the better part of valor.
