Donal Trump says he will force Apple to build its "computers and things" in the United States

Trump told the audience at Liberty University that to bring manufacturing jobs back to the United States he would make Apple "build their damn computers and things in this country." While this isn't a bad idea, or even the first time it has been suggested, Trump didn't offer any specifics on how he would force Apple to abruptly change its manufacturing.

"Please, we have such amazing people in this country: smart, sharp, energetic, they're amazing," Trump said. 'I was saying make America great again, and I actually think we can say now, and I really believe this, we're gonna get things coming... we're gonna get Apple to start building their damn computers and things in this country, instead of in other countries."

There's currently no legal reason as to why Apple would have to bring all of its manufacturing stateside under a Trump presidency, although factors like incentives and tax breaks for the company could be offered. Nevertheless, Trump didn't detail his plans for forcing Apple to manufacture in the United States at all.

Still disturbs me for example a Japanese sneaker brand where all they do in Japan is design with it put together in China. I want a sneaker made in Japan not China. How can new balance for example be regarded anymore as good quality if it is actually made in China. May as well buy the cheaper knock off.

Worth thinking about. Thanks for the context.

Many people have undue respect toward the supposed complexity of assembling computers. That fear is why companies can charge $40 for simple things like changing your video card.

The process of changing a video card is as follow:

1. unscrew two screws and take the cover plate of your computer off
2. take out the power plug from your old video card and pull it out
3. push the new video card into the slot like a lego piece and plug the power cord back in
4. put the cover back and screw in the two screws holding it

Certainly not worth a $40 service fee.

In 1929 the stock market crashed. Unemployment stayed below 10% in 1929 and 1930. The Smoot-Harley tariffs were passed in mid-1930. Imports and exports decreased by 65%. Unemployment skyrocketed.

Trump has talked about a 45% tariff on goods imported from China.

-— maybe Trump’s main trouble is that he was to become better acquainted with the Constitution.....-—

Trump is more a follower of Al Davis.
