One of the United States' most influential evangelical leaders blasted Liberty University President Jerry Falwell, Jr. on Monday for hosting Donald Trump to give a campaign speech.
Russell Moore, who heads the Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, the public policy arm of the Southern Baptist Convention, let fly a series of tweets after Falwell gave a glowing introduction to Trump, calling him "one of the greatest visionaries of our time" and saying Trump "lives a life of helping others ... as Jesus taught in the New Testament."
Moore appeared incredulous at Falwell's language, which was more effusive than he had been with any other candidate, including Texas Sen. Ted Cruz:
I’m taking my frustrations out by sending an email to my Secretary of State this morning contesting Cruz on the Nevada ballot and this afternoon, composing a letter to the editor of our newspaper. :)
Definitely — what you said: “look at Carter”. And Clinton was SB, as well as Carter.
Pulling religion into this as a criterion is insane. The Founding Fathers didn’t want religion as a criterion. Why do so many of these people use that as the sole filter to determine an acceptable candidate? Talk about arrogance! Believing that they’re smarter than Washington, Madison, the Adams men, etc. Sheesh!
Rush hit the truth home today like never before!!
He sees it for what it is now and knows that he doesn’t want to be on the wrong side when Trump does the turn around after elected.
Trump doesn’t NEED to have familiarity with the Bible. Are we having an election in November or a Pulpit Committee meeting?
Same as the Cruz supporters. I started with Cruz 1st, went to Trump, then to Carson, and down the line, well there has been a shakeup due to Cruz antagonists and he has dropped to 3rd place......
Venom is poisonous.
All sides need to stop!
Yes; today at Liberty he said “The Art Of The Deal” is the #1 book — AFTER the Bible, which is #1.
Did this evangelical also blast the university when it hosted Sanders?
Falwell Jr. actually made mention in the intro today that his father, when ill, received communications from 3 people that had become his friends over the years...Ted Kennedy, Larry Flint (of Hustler magazine), and Jessie Jackson.
He also made mention that when voting was brought up at one time, Falwell Sr. stated he was voting for a President, not a pastor.
I want to anoint him a "King in the Realm of Politics" so he can rule over American society.
That would shut up the naysayers.

My wife contacted Trump campaign in Nevada about volunteering, I like your Idea too.
If Cruz is so sure he is eligible why hasn’t he gone to court to head off all the law suits?
I guess a “Good Lawyer, NEVER asks question he KNOWS the ANSWER TO”.
I just hope its all over by Florida.

That would be something.
So do I. I wish I had the health to volunteer, many thanks to your wife from me.
I can be a pest with letters though and really intend to do that. I want everyone involved in Nevada to explain themselves on record. Maybe some of them will at least think.
Nah. It happens all the time.
Rumour has it that Falwell and Kennedy became friends.

Because Kennedy appreciated Falwell’s kindness.
You know the Christian thing people do when they are nice to even the enemy.
He knows all about it.

You just keep that post on your clipboard, don’t you? Ping me when you have something interesting or meaningful to post — like something the actual candidate says. For now ... YAAAAAAWWNN............

He did not. Many of us watched and listened to the speech and he did not say that.
