As I said initially, it has to do with context. The context of the verse matters. It doesn’t match the situation IMHO.

Yes, context matters. The passage in Second Corinthians from which the verse comes is about the freedom we have in Christ. Freedom from the guilt the law of the old testament placed on mankind. Grace vs. condemnation, and through Christ we triumph! The verse is not referring to man-made government at all. Does Mr. Trump even realize that? ..I feel safe in saying that Senator Cruz has read a little further down the page. Second Corinthians Chapter 4, verses one and two, perhaps: “...we have received mercy, we faint not; But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.”
