Donald Trump, speaking to a religious crowd at Virginia's Liberty University on Monday, turned to scripture.
"We're going to protect Christianity. I can say that. I don't have to be politically correct," he said. "Two Corinthians, 3:17, that's the whole ballgame ... is that the one you like?"

You aren’t quoting what he said or meant correctly either. He talked about taking communion, and to my knowledge, when one takes communion, they repent before doing so. Is this all you have? Your lopsided view of someone else’s faith? Yep, you are one of the Pharisees that Jesus so despised.

The only comments I made were to point out the proper title of the epistle and also to opine that the clunker would raise eyebrows among many folks that I know well. Does it make up / change minds? Who knows?
Kill shot? Not at all.
I then tried to bring in another aspect - pragmatism. And that got ignored.
Let me take a last try. Suppose President Trump is negotiating with Congress over say trade, while there is some prolife legislation in the works. Suppose Pelosi tells Donald she needs Planned Parenthood funding increased (Donald is already on record liking the good things they do) in exchange for supporting his 35 or 45% tariff on imports.
What is a reasonable expectation as to how that plays out?

Trump himself, IMHO, needs to calm down and stop trying to prove his Christian bona fides.
Trump does very little to prove he's a Christian. He does address it from time to time. I don't think he has tried to sell folks on the idea of him being any better than Cruz based on his religious beliefs. That's not the impression I get from the other side based on Cruz supporters who constantly trash Trump based on religion, and constantly remind us Ted is a good one. Trump provided a Bible verse to fellow Christians. What would you have him do? Would you forbid this? That's just strange.
If one wanted to, they could address Ted's dad and his connection to religion. That is fertile ground if you wish to see the beliefs Ted grew up around. I don't evaluate them openly on the forum. Once in a while I suggest folks may want to look it up for themselves.
I think it is clear that Christians, admittedly such as myself, are going to be at least a little skeptical regarding his great evangelical faith based upon the admission that he doesnât really ask God for forgiveness and when you look at some aspects of his attitude and his life. I am not claiming to be perfect or that he should be perfect.
While I agree with you ideologically, I don't think Trump is a bad man. Any man that has a relationship with as fine a children as his own, is a good man. When those kids look at their dad, they are beaming. Their faces light up. You can't fake that, and you wouldn't fake that if he weren't a good guy.
But the whole package- making a production of everything, taking a bible to every stop, saying it is his favorite book, trying to say âI am more evangelical than the Cubanâ, stop trying so hard and stop pandering. Just be genuine about your beliefs and your level spiritually speaking.
He does not take a Bible to every stop. He brought the Bible his mother gave him to one, possibly two stops. He has now participated in over 60 events.
I donât go out and try to convince people I am some expert doctor. Trump shouldnât try to out christian people.
He hasn't been. Other than that I agree. He has tried to let Christians know he respects them and they have nothing to fear from him. The very fact he went to Liberty University should give you some comfort. Instead folks look for something they can gouge him on. That's defeatist for our cause.
That said, this is a silly criticism.
Yes it is.
Thank you.

The bottom line is, Will Trump preserve our religious liberty? Who cares if he’s even an atheist if he does that? Where did I say that?

It is a big deal to the Cruzbots who don’t understand that God set up the government to be a separate entity from the church - whose mission it is to preach the gospel. He never gave that commission to the government. If these so-called purists knew their BibleThat's right, but it ain't - the government metes out justice according to the Law of YHWH. How do they do that if they do not know it?

Don-O, on what basis do you think Ted Cruz is qualified to lead a corporate level endeavor?
We can both come up with hypotheticals, but I garner that mine here is more close to reality than yours.
It will affect every single thing he does. HE IS NOT QUALIFIED TO LEAD! He has absolutely no top level leadership experience.
The very tools of core leadership do not exist in Ted’s toolbox?

We;;. our laws are based on the Bible - or I should say the 10 Commandments. Otherwise, anything goes, but, the main purpose of government is to govern - not preach. I love the fact that we have the 1st Amendment and freedom of religion. However, it is still a separate entity according to the Bible.

All I am saying is he needs to quit trying to pass himself off as a religious person when he is not. A bible trumper he is not.
Oh, but I forgot, he is trying to pass himself off as a true conservative also.

I have never heard a believer reference a book of the Bible that way. A few people on this thread have said that they have heard it.
It doesn’t make me evil to find it odd. It doesn’t make me evil to comment about it.
I don’t hate Trump. I’m not trying to destroy him. I think his candidacy has been a great service to political debate, more so than any single candidate’s since Reagan.

Man looks at the outside, but God looks at the heart. You have no way of knowing what is in Trump’s heart, so stop passing yourself off a Holy Ghost Junior. You do know that bestiality is legal in Houston, Tx, but not in NY don’t you? How’s that for Texas values?

2 vs 2nd should reach the level of a disqualifier for folks. How very disingenuous of you - That is not what I said.
The disqualifier is the casinos and strip clubs.
AND 3 divorces.
AND the 'first lady to be' being a centerfold.
AND his playboy lifestyle.
AND his arrogance about his wealth.
THEN his affiliation with PresbyUSA (which, even of that, he is less than)
AND his 'never needing to ask forgiveness'
AND his waiving the Bible, while being ignorant of what it contains.
There is *NOTHING* for the Christian Right in Donald J. Trump.
