Donald Trump, speaking to a religious crowd at Virginia's Liberty University on Monday, turned to scripture.
"We're going to protect Christianity. I can say that. I don't have to be politically correct," he said. "Two Corinthians, 3:17, that's the whole ballgame ... is that the one you like?"

Darlin’, I don’t claim to be perfect. I am far from it. There is a God. I am not him. So I fall on my face every day.
That said, this is primary season at Free Republic. Put on your big-girl panties.
Guess the speech wasn’t near that âspecial placeâ where he keeps all those Bibles heâs collected.
Donald Trump on Church and Bible:
He could take some pandering lessons from his good friends Hitlery and Obama, then pick up the southern drawl when he ventures out to fly-over country.
If I’m comparing this incident to Cruz’ supporter’s actions on this forum, Trump comes out the true Christian an the Cruz folks the faux Christians.
Except, at the beginning of his speech, he specifically told them to move the teleprompters because they weren’t needed.
He doesn’t USE a teleprompter!
Dos Corinthians...
Actually a good verse to quote, given the locale. But I'm sure his advisers gave it to him. Good quote, nonetheless.
“Two Corinthians” would not sound unusual outside of North America.
I’d be more interested in how well Trump handled the verse than the reference.
“I am sure none of you have ever made an error misquoting Scripture.”
This really isn’t about misquoting scripture, it’s about pretending to be something you are not.
Agree with the exception of one added word:
It’s only the knuckle-dragging, helmet wearing, drool cup wearing, mouth breather, cousin loving types that go all mental when someone doesn’t speak with THEIR exact precision.
I’ve never heard any believer refer to a second book of the Bible as “two”.
*******************************************************
Really? I hear it at Sunday School, church and prayer meetings on Wednesday, every week.
If someone says “Corinthians”, how would you know which book they were referring to? 1 John, 2 John, 3 John.
No. It NEVER is. And praise God for that! I have to go home to Christ every single day because I am a wretched sinner.
In the last few months he pretends. Before that he said Christians are taunting Muslims.
Jimmy Carter teaches Sunday School......’nuff said.
He’s never going to out religion Obama. Obama dared to even go to a Church before he was president.
I guess that makes me a non-believer.....
Then he should quit acting like he is a Christian. It is as clear as glass that he is not a practicing Christian so he should quit pretending.
“Well, my Bible does show it as 2 (Two) Corinthians and not Second Corinthians.”
That’s a shorthand, an abbreviation. If you turn to the first page of that book, I’m sure you’ll see the actual title. Nobody refers to it, when speaking, as “2 Corinthians”, because that is exclusively a written shorthand.
Similarly, if I was speaking, I wouldn’t say “Rev 20”, I would say “Revelations, chapter 20”.
When Obama reads off a teleprompter it’s bad! When Trump does it, it’s good.
He’ll make a giant stride toward bring America back to the Constitution when he breaks up the GROUPTHINK that liberals have imposed through PC.
This is big! Maybe Yuuge! Trump made his first mistake! He said ‘2’ instaed of ‘Second.’ Oh the horror!
