(UK/the British Empire was the KEY foreign-born or foreign-sired persons our Founders sought to bar from the new office of the Presidency, the idea being that the mother country might try to slip its agents into America to capture the US government, or at least its executive, this way...it would have been futile to fight the Revolutionary War if the Brits could then just take back control ...either via agents or just persons with familial affinity for Britain.......
