Graph Shows A Surprising Number Of Republicans Have Changed Their Tune On Trump

The standard political rules don't apply to Donald Trump.

We have seen him get through controversy after controversy that would have instantly ended the campaign of a traditional candidate and not only has he remained virtually unscathed but his poll numbers have actually increased.

Trump has struck a nerve in this country and capitalized on what is perhaps the most perfect window for him to run in thanks to the fact that people are more divided than ever and extremely frustrated with the establishment and status quo in both parties.

A recent poll from NBC and the Wall Street Journal puts into perspective just how convincing Trump's message has been.

From The Washington Post:

Donald Trump, as I tell anyone who asks, defies virtually every political rule I thought I knew. There's no better encapsulation of Trump's up-is-down-and-down-is-up effect on presidential politics than a new number from the just-released NBC/Wall Street Journal poll. The question asked is a simple one: Could you see yourself supporting [fill in the blank candidate] for the Republican nomination for president? When NBC/WSJ first asked GOP voters that question about Trump last March, fewer than one in four (23 percent) said they could see themselves voting for him.

Wow.

That's pretty remarkable when you consider everything that has happened over the last year.

The media has been bashing Trump left and right for everything he says. Celebrities have been freaking out calling him racist and threatening to leave the country if he wins. But yet, here he is with a significant amount of support that only continues to grow.

“Trump will do nothing to stop the daily slaughter of thousands of little babies. “

Yeah. News at 11:00 ... NONE OF THEM WILL.

Who did you vote for instead of Romney last time, or did you just stay home? How’d that work out for Conservatism?

No, I don’t believe he will. That’s why I don’t support him either.

‘Because several of the birthers have been saying that to be a natural born citizen, the child had to be born on US soil, and both parents had to be natural born on US soil as well.’

Do you have a link? I have been extensively involved in eligibility discussions for around seven years, and I have never heard one single person suggest, much less attempt to argue/support, such an out-of-the-mainstream concept. I’ve never even heard it hinted at. Both patents “citizens,” as opposed to NBC, is the only formula I’ve heard [coupled with birth on the soil, in the case of NBC].

That’s right. That’s why I won’t support any of them.

I learned my lesson awhile ago.

If they won’t protect the supreme God-given right of the babies, they won’t protect any of our rights.

It’s one of the little lies they tell.

Thanks for calling them out on it.

Voting for the best conservative is not “ giving up”. Voting for left leaning Republicans is however giving in. And that is your right as a citizen. But at some point in your life you may get sick of that. Or maybe not.

I voted for Romney. I have voted for the Republican nominee every time since I have been eligible to vote. How about you?

I cannot in good conscience vote for Trump

For me Trump = Hilary and Hillary = Trump.. both are progressive liberals... one is just claiming he is a Republican.

Writing in a name in the general election is the behavior of a 5 year old
that says he is going to hold his breath until he gets his way.

Then why even post on a political board? You’ll never be voting for anyone again, ever. Republican or Democrat - it doesn’t matter. They’re never going to reverse Roe v. Wade.

The best we can do is elect a President who says he’s pro-life and inspires people not to kill their own children - in which case, I think, ANY of our candidates would be better than ANY RAT candidate.

Just follow the birther threads on FR. I have responded to a couple of birthers that saw things that way. That has since stopped since the debate.

Because the original interpretation of “natural born citizen” meant an individual born in the US to two US citizens who had also been born in the US. Cruz was making the point that several current candidates besides himself do not meet that criteria.

He then listed those circumstances. (Cruz was born in Canada to a US citizen and to a non-US citizen; Rubio was born here but neither of his parents were US citizens; Trump was born here but his mother was a naturalized US citizen.)
