Bashing Cruz, Rubio defends shift on immigration
TheHill ^ | 1/17/16 | Mike Lillis

On Sunday, the GOP presidential hopeful acknowledged that his position has changed since 2013, when he helped craft a comprehensive immigration reform bill that included a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants.

But that shift, he argued, was a concession to the political realities in Washington –– where House Republicans have refused to consider the issue –– as well as a reaction to recent terrorist attacks he says have exposed holes in the enforcement of existing law.

"It is very clear now more than ever that we are not going to be able to do anything on people that are illegally until we first prove to people that illegal immigration is under control and America is safe," he said in an interview on NBC's "Meet the Press" program.

Understood.

He screwed the pooch.

I hear from many that he was led astray.
Call me unforgiving.

But we ARE living in a different time. I’m will to concede Rubio might understand this as well.

Crazy part is few are saying Rubio is NBC challenged.

Yet Trump hanging out with Clinton, donating money to her, even having her at his wedding is no big deal right?

The hypocrisy runs deep in you.

Funny, that’s not what Trump was saying a few years earlier.

He’s selling and your buying...

The problem with that is Trump was and is first and foremost a businessman. Whereas, Cruz is first and foremost a politician. Trump hobnobbed with and rub elbows with and donated to whomever he thought would allow him to make business deals. Not being a politician, he didn’t worry about what they call the “optics” of the situation. Cruz, being a politician, should have known that the bad optics of running down to the border to throw a welcome party for illegal invaders with a nutjob like Beck.

I know, Cruz’s supporters all say that he and Beck were trying to highlight the humanitarian plight of the border situation. But, to the invaders coming across the border, seeing two guys handing them soccer balls or teddy bears, they were a welcoming committee, and I’m sure that is what they told their compatriots.

The situation is also criminal.

Well, bring him up on charges then if you think it’s criminal. Then you may as well bring Cruz up on charges also regarding his Goldman Sachs loan, BTW, isn’t Cruz’ wife a GS executive? That sounds a little illegal as well.

Two things.

First, Trump broke the law in buying politicians. That is well beyond “optics”. His ambition exceeded his morality.

Second, do you not believe Cruz learned his lesson on the immigration issue?

So you're willing to settle for another Etch-A-Sketch candidate instead of one with rock-solid principles that don't change with extenuating circumstances or pressure from others?

OK, if that's your choice...

There’s always been a mix of politics and business, and some of that does turn into illegalities. If Trump had illegal dealings with any politician, I’m sure it would have come out by now. Merely donating to a politicians campaign is not illegal, but if you can prove that the politician was actually receiving bribes, that’s illegal. So, if you think that Trump’s deals were illegal, you are more than welcome to invest a lot of time examining all of his dealings. I would think that Cruz, Rubio, Bush, Clinton, etc., have probably had their Opposition Research crews working on this very subject for many months. We’ll have to wait and see, but by all means, start your own investigation if you want.

You are so wrong.

Why would the left or the media, but I repeat myself, bring out anything negative about Trump now? If you've been paying attention virtually none of the MSM has said anything negative about Trump's business dealings this election cycle. They want him as the candidate to run against Hillary.

As soon as he gets the nomination the onslaught of Trump's dirty laundry will begin. Do you thing people like Cruz can penetrate a business empire like Trump's? The vast number of Trump's dealings are with other lefties. They are the ones that hold the dirt and can let it flow when the time is right.

And I don't have to “prove” Trump bought politicians for political favors, he says as much. He's proud of owning them. It is all about power and who's in charge - just ask him.

Trump has been around for decades, if someone is dirty, that comes out, and if it hasn’t come out yet, there probably isn’t much there to worry about.

Trump represents the biggest threat to Hillary than any of the others. That’s because he’s the only one who has exhibited any willingness to fight Clinton using her own tactics. He’ll definitely go where no other candidate is willing to go, and is willing to say and do what it takes to win.

As far as Trump owning politicians, I think he may rent them for a day or an hour, but doesn’t actually own them.

Well, bring him up on charges then if you think it's criminal.

It doesn't matter what I think. It's illegal to exchange cash for political favors.

Doesn't that just make sense?

And if you think about it a little bit more... Do you really want to elect a president who brags about paying cash for political favors?

Then you may as well bring Cruz up on charges also regarding his Goldman Sachs loan,

Ted had a garden variety margin loan.

It works like this.

Ted owned a stock fund.

Instead of selling his stocks, he borrowed the cash value of his stocks.

IOW, he had a collateralized loan.

And he paid himself back.

This is a big, fat, nothing.

Do you know for a fact that Trump has bribed anyone? We need dates, places, and who he bribed. I’ve never heard him say he bribed people, just that he donated to campaigns. Donating and bribing are two different things. What about all the millions that Cruz and everyone else for that matter, have taken in from businesses, are they all bribes?
