Exactly. The GOPe were planning to steal Cruz’s delegates at the convention at the last minute after Justice Roberts rules him ineligible. That’s why Jeb is still confident that he’ll get the nomination.

The only quibble I have is that there would be a SCOTUS ruling. I doubt it, and besides, the convention doesn't need a court ruling, it has the power to consider and decide qualification issues on its own. Do you think the GOP would nominate an unqualified nominee? I mean, they might, but what a huge risk.

OTOH, the GOPe is so damn corrupt, it would facilitate an entire primary season to run with a candidate that it knew wasn't qualified.

Don't you wonder why this issue ran silent for what, 4 months? Is the Katyal/Clement article all that powerful? Are they ALL lemmings? No lawyers? Somebody is being hoodwinked, and that somebody is the public.

Who in the GOPe allowed this to proceed this far, without uttering a word?

Maybe the party was hit with a stupid bomb, I don't know. But about half a day of legal research, starting from scratch, says "no way is this guy qualified."
