Presidential candidate Donald Trump told ABC's George Stephanopoulos that he'll consider filing a lawsuit against Ted Cruz regarding his U.S. citizenship. Trump made the comments after Stephanopoulos asked whether he'd sue.

No I distinctly remember you opining as to whether it seemed like Trump was showing early signs of Alzheimer’s. You didn’t seem like big fan to me. Now today here you go again with the Alzheimer’s.
Are you even serious? My kid is a lawyer, working as Seattle city prosecutor. American law is not legally connected to UK, Canada or Cuba.
I try to avoid any threads posted by Isara.
They are just too painfully worshipful of Cruz usually full of lies and distortions about Trump.
I do follow Trump on Twitter though and didn’t see any evidence for your claim of Alzheimers.
We should all be so fortunate as to have the intelligence, quick thinking, and leadership skills of Trump.
Trump has standing, and SCOTUS is the final authority which matter in any legal case.
Sorry I addressed Georgia Girl 2 incorrectly on my post 363.
Keep up the informative and substantive posts coming, in response to posters who confuse their opinions and wishful thinking as constitutional law.
May be lot of truth in that, because he is 10,000 times richer than 99.99% of Americans.
Qualifying as a “National and Citizen of the United States at Birth” under Title 8, Chapter 12, Subchapter III, Part 1 has been all that Obama needed. My money is on the courts ruling the same way concerning Senator Cruz.
“The following shall be nationals and citizens of the United States at birth:
(g) a person born outside the geographical limits of the United States and its outlying possessions of parents one of whom is an alien, and the other a citizen of the United States who, prior to the birth of such person, was physically present in the United States or its outlying possessions for a period or periods totaling not less than five years, at least two of which were after attaining the age of fourteen years...”
Voeltz v. Obama, Judge John C. Cooper, Leon County, Florida Circuit Court: In addition, to the extent that the complaint alleges that President Obama is not a natural born citizen even though born in the United States, the Court is in agreement with other courts that have considered this issue, namely, that persons born within the borders of the United States are natural born citizens for Article II, Section 1 purposes, regardless of the citizenship of their parents. Ok,
For me it was nice debating this interesting issue with you while it lasted.
Take good care.
No problemo. :-)

The British defined "natural-born subject."
The Constitution uses the term "natural born citizen."
Furthermore, Hamilton's suggestion of "born a citizen" would have matched the citizen version of the British definition of "natural-born subject," but the Constitutional Convention rejected that terminology.
Born a citizen just isn't enough.
You can repeat yourself that he has standing all you want, but standing is established by dame or injury. What is the damage done to Trump?
IMO, Trump's campaign is burning bridges with potential supporters way too early in the campaign, but maybe you Trumpbots are right and Trump will be the greatest president ever.
BOTH are present in common law. It is under the latter, that Cruz is a "natural born citizen."
What about the "former"? Both are required.
Minor and Happersett (1874).
I don't know when that was, but Baby boomers were taught "this crap" in our then respectable public school system.
Could be it was "unheard of" because everybody knew what it was, and nobody considered trying it.
Don’t be silly. I meant that when I was a kid, most of the nominees were born in the USA of two American-born parents.
That’s what I said.
If Cruz should win in Iowa, Trump will have suffered “injury-in-fact” (direct not indirect injury) which is a requirement of standing, if, repeat IF Cruz is ineligible.
McCain, Palin, Romney and/or Ryan could have been granted standing to sue Obama as the only other people to receive Electoral votes and have a legitimate chance to be elected if Obama was to be found to be ineligible. That again would be injury-in-fact. But none of them filed suit or were the lead plaintiffs in a class action suit.
No offense to Rush, but Rush could possibly draw the crowds Trump is drawing maybe once a year. He would never dray the crowds Trump is drawing day in a day out over multiple states.
Now if Rush or Levin really wanted to put themselves on the front lines so to speak and really run for an office, then MAYBE Rush would draw the crowds.
Trump is giving up everything to run for President. Trump doesn’t need this but he is a leader and sees a vacuum of incompetent Republican leadership over the past 2 election cycles an he said enough is enough. Every conservative loves and respects Rush. But Donal Trump is taking his love for America to another level.
Rush and Levin aren’t putting themselves on the line as it relates to changing their lifestyle and needing to get secret service involved, Why? Because Rush and Levin only TALK about how we need to correct our country. And good for them. But for either of them to diss Donald Trump who has given up a cushy lifestyle to roll up his sleeves and put he and his family on the line, says everything. If Levin and Rush trash Trump it will expose how weak they are. Anyone can be strong behind a Radio microphone in todays LIberal Media, but it takes someone like Trump who is not afraid to face the media in PERSON day in and day out and leave is cushy lifestyle. That is why average working Americans respect Trump. He does not have to be running. McCain and Romney were loser, yet Trump supported them. GW Bush NEVER talked back to his adversaries.
We need Trump. Trump has courage like Reagan and is not afraid of the Left like Bush and Rove were.
