what turned me off was pitting state against state.
I’ve never EVER heard of that as a strategy.
and yes, saying one’s state’s values or better or worse than another state’s is divisive.
i wont vote for such a person.
plus what he says and what he does dont match up too well.
but i turned a blind eye towards those other things.
this put me over the top.
and the IRONIC thing is many on the board who are agreeing with him are voting for TRUMP, Mr. NYC himself!!
i am too, but I live here. :)
New York values have nothing to do with 911 responders. Hillary did the same thing when questioned about her ties to Wall Street. Change the subject-a Democrat tactic.
We are one nation. The fight is with the globalists who would dissolve our nation into some sort of world system.
Sure, a lot of those people live in NY, but they are everywhere. And, to defeat them, we have to have support from everywhere.
I grew up in NY. My family is there. I learned to love America there.
Even as a strategy, I think the whole “New York values” thing stinks. The only way we are going to get our country back is doing what Ronald Reagan did when he won New York, New Jersey, and Massachusetts twice, and that’s standing up for America - all of it.
excellent post.
a lot of Trumpsters have driven me crazy trying to change my vote.
to no avail.
it took Ted one sentence to flip me to Trump.
i know a bunch of FReeper who will be happy about it.
someone posted that 9/11 has nothing to do with values?
one friend dead of lung cancer, another dying, cleaning up the pit, as they called it.
if i was a fireman and saw a 110 story building in a lot of trouble, i’d say “i quit”. well, i hope i wouldn’t.
lines for giving blood were out the door. people helping people like never before.
fighting to keep the CROSS SHAPED SURVIVING BEAM UP AND WE WON.
men who wouldn’t go home from their job even when ordered to.
Giuliani was elected by these people without principles.
and though he is not liked on this board, he was a Good man and a GREAT mayor.
he would have beaten obama and he wouldn’t have touched guns at the federal level, and was against gay marriage and abortion.
what are the rest of the country’s values that are so much better/
calling Cuomo, who i HATED his politics, calling him a DAGO and a WOP on the thread when he died. what value is that? I’m a WOP too, by the way.
a number of posts sent to me drooling with hatred of Catholics, saying we are the reason dems win the WH, which is nonsense. if not for hispanic catholics, it would be a landslide for republicans
and other groups, like Jews and Asians, vote Overwhelmingly democrat, but i’ve never seen vitriol thrown at them.
Nor should there be.
I have many Jewish friends in NYC who are insanely liberal and hypocrites. one says he is a communist but sends his kids to a private catholic school and did TONS of overtime for more money. He said country folk were dumb.
but he was a GOOD guy to me. Taught me what would become my profession, graphics. Patient as hell, when i should have been let go because my experience level was FAR BELOW what was required. The man gave me my career,
Yaron, we didn’t become friends until i was 33, when we met, yet he has been a BETTER friend than ones i’ve had my whole life. His parents treat me like a son. Though he was moderately conservative. My middle class Jewish friends are much more moderate than my wealthy Jewish friends. I think that may be true for most groups.
all different people in all different groups have all different values and no group is perfect.
I’m Italian American, Roman Catholic, have liberal friends even though I want to clock them many times and we argue about politics any time it comes up.
when i got sick, ALL of them visited me at my home. I got money and gift certificates galore.
I abhor their political views, and think they are terribly misguided and being pro abortion disgusts me, but i present my arguments on the issues and have won some battles and maybe changed a few voter’s minds.
and MANY have told me they respect me for not changing my views to fit with the group. in an office of maybe 50 or 60, there was me and one libertarian, everyone else liberal dem.
the hypocrisy of working at an investment bank and being ultra liberal!!
BUT I WILL NOT APOLOGIZE FOR NEW YORK!!!!!
I LOVE THE CITY. ESPECIALLY LATE AT NIGHT WHEN YOU HAVE THE BUILDINGS AND STREETS ALL TO YOURSELF.
but that’s just me.
