Well, if you want to compare speculation versus reality, I’d point out that Ronald Reagan himself appointed Sandra Day O’Conner and Anthony Kennedy, and between the two Bushes we got David Souter and John Roberts.
Let’s face it. There is no way to know how a Supreme Court justice will go after he/she is confirmed.
Reagan was right on the money with Antonio Scalia and the Bushes with Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.
But Trump saying he likes his judge sister is NOT descriptive of who he’d nominate; I’m sorry.
I think Trump, if elected, will surround himself with very smart people/subordinates who will advise him on who would be the best candidates for the country. I really do.
However, consider my list above FRiend. There is no way the above justices who turned out to be liberal would have been nominated if the presidents at the time knew what we know now.
Reality is the best teacher.
Still, I had to chuckle at Trump’s sister’s name:
Maryanne Barry!
Wasn’t she mayor of Washington DC?
I read somewhere that Justice Alito worked for Trump's older sister Mary Ann in the US Attorney's office when he was just getting started and that as a judge in the US Court of Appeals she testified on behalf of Alito's nomination to the USSC.
Its an interesting connection.
Brilliant!
You just quoted the essence of Donald Trump.
So when was the last time a Democrat appointed either a moderate or conservative to the Supreme Court? They never do as they thoroughly bet them. Republicans are afraid of the fight to nominate solid conservatives unless a deal is struck to give away one of their appointments.

Both Cruz and Trump have histories. I trust Cruz to know and appoint judges with Cruz’s point of view. I do not trust Trump
But then everyone has an onion and by 2018 / 2019 - the proof will be in. Will we still have a Second Amendment ? Who knows !
