Believe it or not, the federal government is supposed to have limits on what it can legislate over the states. To only those things enumerated in the constitution. Gay marriage isn’t one of them... What isn’t in the federal government’s domain is left to the states. Cruz said it should be up to the states to decide and that it is none of the federal government’s business - which is correct.

There was a time when “conservatives” were for smaller government and restraining the federal government back to its constitutional limits. This issue is an example.

That is convenient.

So, he is not fighting gay marriage. Cruz originally was for fighting gay marriage; check out what he said when the decision was made by the Supreme Court.
