“Cruz said it should be up to the states to decide and that it is none of the federal government’s business - which is correct.”

That is convenient.

So, he is not fighting gay marriage. Cruz originally was for fighting gay marriage; check out what he said when the decision was made by the Supreme Court.

Returning it to the state IS the best way to fight gay marriage. And it is the correct CONSTITUTIONAL remedy. It is much easier to overturn a SCOTUS ruling - Congress can do that by passing a statute saying that the subject of marriage is restricted to the states, and by prohibiting SCOTUS from having jurisdiction over that statute. The only other option is to try to get a Constitutional amendment. Just because he is not fighting the way you want him to doesn't mean he is not fighting - he is just fighting in a way that actually has a chance of succeeding.

The supreme court overrode the states right to decide themselves. They did so outside the bounds of the constitution.

Cruze on the ruling: “very definition of tyranny.”

Maybe you ought to look up what Cruz said instead...

Wrong. That is the standard position of Conservatives. They want the states in instead of the feds deciding.
