On Tuesday on the syndicated Howie Carr Show, Ted Cruz declared that Donald Trump "comes from New York and he embodies New York values." That night on Fox, New York-born Megyn Kelly asked Cruz to explain exactly what "New York values" are. Cruz responded: "The rest of the country knows exactly what New York values are, and I gotta say, they're not Iowa values and they're not New Hampshire values."
Yesterday Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise I, one of four significant pro-Cruz Super PACs, endorsed Cruz's anti-New York perspective: "New York is home to many wonderful people and places, but the emphasis is more on money than morality. The line to get into Abercrombie & Fitch is a mile longer than the line to get into St. Patrick's Cathedral."
But here's what Cruz and Conway haven't mentioned:
Keep the Promise I is registered in New York and has raised $11,000,000 from a single New Yorker, financier Robert Mercer. Mercer is co-CEO of the hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, located on New York's Long Island. The Super PAC's only other donor is from Florida and contributed $5,000, so Mercer has provided 99.95 percent of its money.

Oh, that comment will change a few minds.
You have an example a few posts up about a Freepers husband
changed his mind.
The question is how many minds will it change?
That we don’t know.
NYers know the real NY. Trump is playing the 9/11 card as a fail safe yet those same heroes are now detested in NYC as brown shirts. They have zero to do with anything Cruz was talking about.
We know Cruz was talking about liberal values, which NY holds in spades from Albany down to NYC. The same values Trump identified with no too long ago.
Why is he bashing them again?
Trump playing the 9/11 card was a disgrace and something his friend Bill Clinton would do.
1: IA gave us Obama.
2: NH and IA went for Obama in both 2008 and 2012.
3: NH is one of the most irreligious states in the country. It has a higher percentage of “Nones” than NYC.
Oh, that comment will change a few minds.
Exactly. Undecideds are going to lean away from Cruz after it’s pointed out what a hypocrite he is. Calling NY vile while your wife works for the worst NY bank of bunch and you are raking in piles of their cash won’t fly in fly over country. People want authenticity and not beltway theater BS. Cruz comes off as a hypocritical beltway careerist politician. That’s the last thing the GOP base want right now.
Bill De Blassio is the “NYC values” Cruz was talking about.
I don't see what was so offensive - I thought that was the line of the night, honestly. In fact I shouted and clapped when he said it.
“Cruz better be careful painting in broad brushes.”
Now, that is pretty damn close to what I tell Californian
hating FReepers who act as if ALL of us are flaming libtards.
The “Empire State Building” took 15 months to build. The “Freedom Tower” took 15 years. The difference is due to the bureaucratic nightmares created by New Yorkers and their liberal ilk. I feel strongly for the families who lost loved ones in the Twin Towers disaster, and appreciate the work and dedication of the rescue and cleanup crews, but it is not they who earn my scorn, it’s the liberal elites who run the city, and those who vote for them. The hard work and dedication of those who toiled a decade and a half ago cannot erase that.
You forgot the /sarc
Now you know what it is like to be a California FReeper.
Since when did New Yorkers become so sensitive? He said Trump, a New York icon, had New York values. That’s an insult? I live in the Northeast and I totally understand when people talk about the values of the Northeast Republicans. My female senators Snowe and Collins are perfect examples of the Northeast Republicans who share many of the traits of New York Values.
I think Ted was referring to NYC. Still it was ill-advised
Cruz: -Ya’ll are a bunch of idiots, so please vote for me!
Cruz’s answer was brilliant and that is why the public responded to him as the winner of the debate.
NYC values are dreadful.
Texas values are awesome.
Obama has NYC values. Trump himself has mocked other non-NYC values as inferior.
911 was a lame answer for Hillary and it is a lame answer for Trump.
We all know the terrorists hit NYC.
If we were as cynical as trump we would say “well we need to stop endorsing NYC values because the terrorists might attack us again— I am not saying I agree with the terrorists but you know its a risk so you cannot have someone who likes NYC values running for the Presidency “
Double post but it was worth saying twice.
So, New Yorkers welcome to the club of know it all lunatics putting you in their box.
If only. In reality, they are polar opposites. GS is an organization that hires only the best, and fires non-producers. In contrast, New York state subsidizes failure. GS is populated by liberal New Yorkers, but its employees are the sharpest people on Wall Street. NY is lucky to have inherited the legacy of being the center of finance of this great country, as well as a good number of other sectors. Without these inherited advantages, it would be in greater trouble than Puerto Rico.
I do not think this is what will cost him New York delegates.
