On Tuesday on the syndicated Howie Carr Show, Ted Cruz declared that Donald Trump "comes from New York and he embodies New York values." That night on Fox, New York-born Megyn Kelly asked Cruz to explain exactly what "New York values" are. Cruz responded: "The rest of the country knows exactly what New York values are, and I gotta say, they're not Iowa values and they're not New Hampshire values."
Yesterday Kellyanne Conway, president of Keep the Promise I, one of four significant pro-Cruz Super PACs, endorsed Cruz's anti-New York perspective: "New York is home to many wonderful people and places, but the emphasis is more on money than morality. The line to get into Abercrombie & Fitch is a mile longer than the line to get into St. Patrick's Cathedral."
But here's what Cruz and Conway haven't mentioned:
Keep the Promise I is registered in New York and has raised $11,000,000 from a single New Yorker, financier Robert Mercer. Mercer is co-CEO of the hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, located on New York's Long Island. The Super PAC's only other donor is from Florida and contributed $5,000, so Mercer has provided 99.95 percent of its money.

Goldman Sachs. Iâm sorry but just that fact his wife works for those scumbags turns me off
Goldman sold bad bonds which they knew were bad to suckers..laughed about it after and shorted them..all proven!
I see Goldman was fined $15 million yesterday. The negative ads write themselves.
People in the City don’t care what upstate New Yorkers think.
All the gnashing of teeth is alotta primary sound & fury signifying nothing.
I'd rather hear more comparative analysis of their respective economic plans.
Yeah, I'm sure glad Trump doesn't do that...

This is really a stupid argument, but Ted Cruz blew it on his answer.
He should have said there are several things he loves about New York values...like their love of country and pride they have in being an American. The way they responded to 911 was amazing. But the values he’s referring to are those that have elected someone like Deblasio as Mayor.
We all know what he means, but he did blow the answer.
“Goldman Sachs. I’m sorry but just that fact his wife works for those scumbags turns me of”
Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, who has said the financial sector makes money at the expense of the middle class, said he believed banking giant Goldman Sachs is a positive force in the world.
“Absolutely I do,”he said Wednesday morning on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” program; “They’re a fantastic firm. They make money but they put people to work. They raise tremendous amounts of capital”

Critical error by Cruz IMHO.
Yeah, the vaunted Ny’er: Strong, innovative, tough, “don’t take no shit from nobody” are cowed into a frenzy because Cruz brings up the fact that most NY’ers think the sun rises and sets on the Empire state.
Trump called Iowa voters stupid, yet he doesn’t seem to mind spending time there.
Here’s the full quote. It was mostly an attack on Carson but nice try. I see now why Team Cruz is being so vague about this:
Top Republicans and Republican operatives in the state on Friday disparaged Trump’s comments from his Thursday evening rally at Iowa Central Community College in which he questioned the intelligence of voters who believe rival Ben Carson’s claims of a violent past and subsequent redemption. “How stupid are the people of Iowa? How stupid are the people of the country to believe this crap?” Trump yelled.

Agree. Wonder if his handlers told him to say it. He should fire them.
I dont know what the uproar is all about. New York leaders say the very same thing Cruz just said. Both de Blasio and Cuomo have stated that pro-life, anti-gay and assault weapon (whatever they think that means) advocates are not welcome in New York. According to Cuomo “conservative Republicans have no place in the state of New York, because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”
Cruz was only echoing their statements.

However, I don't know how these candidates can stay focused and circumspect considering the pressure they're under.
Trump consistently stays focused. He's probably the smartest of all the candidates, Republican and Democrat.
Trump's intellect TOWERS over the mediocre minds that "report the news". It's annoying to watch these silly people of mediocre intellect trying to explain Trump and the Trump Phenomenon--trying to make truth conform to some foolish explanation that apparently makes sense to them, something that their mediocre minds can understand but which is obviously not true.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo: Pro-life people not welcome in New York
One should be even more careful who is allowed to speak for their values:
From the article linked above:
"Their problem is not me and the Democrats; their problem is themselves," he said. "Who are they? Are they these extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay? Is that who they are? Because if that's who they are and they're the extreme conservatives, they have no place in the state of New York, because that's not who New Yorkers are."
Now, ALL New Yorkers don't agree with Cuomo, any more than all Californians agree with what is going on there, or Coloradans agree with Hickenlooper, but those are the people who get the spotlight and give the States an image that others will refer to.
If you don't like that image, then by all means, change the spokespersons.
No, nice Try. Trump, in plain English called Iowans stupid, questioning their degree of it.
I know exactly what he meant by “New York values,” and I hate them too. But he really goofed in using the term. Not that I couldn’t see Trump saying something just as stupid, but Trump would respond by brazening it out until the issue just died of its own inertia. I’m not sure that’s Cruz’s style.
I’ve lived in New York City all of my 50+ years. I can’t believe that anyone here seriously believes, as Trump shamelessly implied, that Cruz was referring to the heroes of 911, or for that matter, the comparatively few conservatives living here.
Trump called everybody supporting Carson stupid. Not just Iowans. Why is Team Cruz dissembling on that quote? It’s like TPA Teddy campaigning for Obama’s TPA with half truths all over again.
RE: But Sure Loves New York Money
What does New York Money mean?
Money from liberals or money from New York conservatives like me?
If the latter, what’s the problem?
We understand that NY is a mostly liberal state but there are enough conservatives in this state with money to support him.
Or he could point out that NY values is what elected socialist Wilhelm, Hillary, and Cuomo.
As for Buckley being from there, he’s hardly representative.
If he were alive today, they’d want to kick him out.
