The last eight years under Barack Obama have been nothing short of devastating. Who would contest that he achieved what he set out to do: "fundamentally transform" the country? The results, at home, include a quasi-nationalized health-care system that is accelerating an imminent budgetary crisis, Sixties-style racial tensions coupled with demoralized law enforcement, and a collapse of immigration law facilitated by executive lawlessness. Abroad, we see a Russia engaged in a slow-motion Reconquista, an Islamic State capable of carrying out devastating attacks in the heart of Europe and of inspiring apostles in America, and an Iran that will soon cast a nuclear shadow over the entire Middle East.
Hillary Clinton has promised to be more lenient than President Obama on immigration enforcement. She has voiced her support for the president's nuclear deal with Iran. She has offered no strategic details about how she would defeat the Islamic State, even in a speech in December explicitly devoted to the topic. On every issue, she is pivoting leftward to accommodate a wing of her party that is outspokenly socialist and anti-military to an extent not seen since the Vietnam War. The danger of a Clinton administration is that it would entrench Barack Obama's precedents - and almost surely expand them. And so the question is: At what point can we no longer change course? Trump and his supporters like to talk in sweeping and apocalyptic terms, and I've no inclination to do the same. The United States does not face any "existential" threats, there will be no Norman landing, no Mongol invasion. But it would be naive to dismiss as bigotry or anxiety what so many voters feel deeply - that the country is in the middle of a profound and perhaps negative transformation.

Just heard that this morning Lindsay Graham will come out and endorse JEB (no last name). This could be a real game changer in this race.
I’m still in the column to reluctantly vote for Trump if Cruz doesn’t get the nomination, but I have to say that the Trump cheerleading here on FR is picking away at that decision every day.
Either that or claim it's the "principled" thing to do by not "settling" (funny but they never seem to be aware that they are actually settling for the lowest possible POS by paving the way for the Left).
Pogo had our side pegged...
If Trump is our nominee, I’ll vote for him - simply because Hillary or Sanders are a significantly worse option.
But I have serious concerns about his conservative bona fides (sp?) as well as his electability. As long as I have a choice before he’s the nominee, I’ll vote for someone else.
“I’m still in the column to reluctantly vote for Trump if Cruz doesn’t get the nomination, but I have to say that the Trump cheerleading here on FR is picking away at that decision every day.”
And that cuts the other way too. IMO, the most provocative agitators are not boosting Cruz or Trump as they claim to be. They are trolling on behalf of Peewee Priebus and company. Intentionally.
Because who else ya gonna vote for?
(It's nice to ask the establishment schlubs that question for a change)
It does cut both ways and it’s retarded.
Folks who refuse to vote for Trump or Cruz because their first choice didn’t make it, vote for Sanders/Clinton by default.
You are so right!
Zero plus Zero = WOW!
Have a great day!!!
That’s how we got Obama for the last 4 years.
I’d vote for him, so long as his pivot for the general doesn’t carry betrayal with it. He’s stated that he will run as a conservative, and up until now, I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt.
Picking my preference for his running mate (Cruz) would also be a HUGE reassurance. Trump’s not my first pick, but I’ve noticed that they could work well together.
If Cruz isn’t viable in the primary by the time the process gets to my state, I’m voting Trump over any of the establishment squishes. Rubio, Jeb, Christie, Kasich.. all non-options in my book.
One more thread where tagline is appropriate. Teaching the GOPe a lesson has worked so well for our country, hasn’t it?
Yep!
Yeah. It's not fair because there are no Cruz supporters on this site. No Cruz cheerleaders. There's nobody belittling Trump supporters. /sarc
If you let others influence your decision about who to support you're weak. Think for yourself.
My money is on a private protection plan courtesy of the new Black Panthers and the Muslim Brotherhood.
I have supported bonafide conservative all my adult life. Ever since 1984, I've supported and voted for conservatives. I can count on one hand the number of those who won who actually stayed conservative once in power.
As far as I'm concerned there's a new paradigm at play. I've moved beyond democrat vs republican (a pox on both their houses) and liberal vs conservative. I'm supporting the strongest candidate, the most American, the guy who I think actually has the balls to get elected and then do what he said he'd do! I'm supporting the only guy not bought and paid for by K Street. Go Trump!
You should expect a call from Fox within the hour. They think you'd be great guest host on "Outnumbered."
lmao
Very, very well said.
I support Sen Cruz and will work hard to not only get him nominated but elected. Trump, eh not so much. But I can hold my nose and vote for him in the general if he is the nominee.
