...
Mr. Trump has no desire to acquaint himself with most issues, let alone master them. He has admitted that he doesn't prepare for debates or study briefing books; he believes such things get in the way of a good performance. No major presidential candidate has ever been quite as disdainful of knowledge, as indifferent to facts, as untroubled by his benightedness.
It is little surprise, then, that many of Mr. Trump's most celebrated pronouncements and promises - to quickly and "humanely" expel 11 million illegal immigrants, to force Mexico to pay for the wall he will build on our southern border, to defeat the Islamic State "very quickly" while as a bonus taking its oil, to bar Muslims from immigrating to the United States - are nativistic pipe dreams and public relations stunts.
Even more disqualifying is Mr. Trump's temperament. He is erratic, inconsistent and unprincipled. He possesses a streak of crudity and cruelty that manifested itself in how he physically mocked a Times journalist with a disability, ridiculed Senator John McCain for being a P.O.W., made a reference to "blood" intended to degrade a female journalist and compared one of his opponents to a child molester.
Mr. Trump's legendary narcissism would be comical were it not dangerous in someone seeking the nation's highest office - as he demonstrated when he showered praise on the brutal, anti-American president of Russia, Vladimir V. Putin, responding to Mr. Putinâs expression of admiration for Mr. Trump.
...
Mr. Trump's virulent combination of ignorance, emotional instability, demagogy, solipsism and vindictiveness would do more than result in a failed presidency; it could very well lead to national catastrophe. The prospect of Donald Trump as commander in chief should send a chill down the spine of every American.

President Camacho is cool, but we actually need the food to grow again.
(That's an "Idiocracy" reference, for those ho haven't seen that near-documentary.)
Peter Wehner would have never voted for any candidate on the R line anyway, so no loss and who cares?
I think Trump would be crushed in a general election and that his supporters will be responsible for President Hillary Clinton.
Building on entering the White House, Cruz is a brilliant guy who would one day make a top notch President. But he will do better after some heavy-duty executive experience. Not essential, but he’s spent too many years around lawyers and legislators while away from real-world problems.
It’s amazing he is as conservative and passionate as he is.
Well the New York Times has spoken. We can’t vote for Cruz or Trump. I guess that leaves Hillary unopposed.
“I absolutely will not vote for Christie. No other candidate has committed the unbelievably evil act of signing a law that forbids parents from getting counseling for their homosexual children. He was under ZERO pressure from anything that would force him to do that. He WANTED to do it.”
I was not aware of that. Thank you for presenting it. Yes, that is a deal breaker for the duration. In fact, it makes him radioactive for others who would be near him.
So he surrounds himself with good people who can work on parts of the pie.
Then he takes their info and makes a decision.
Zero has surrounded himself with Muslims and communists.
Hillary will do the same.
Crazy Bernie? Well, He'd just be crazy Bernie.
Cruz understands it.
So, while the NYT is generally right about Trump himself, He'd still be fine as President.
Rump won’t be president and I wouldn’t waste a vote on him even if he wasn’t a progressive.
Has it dawned on you that (failing to get Cruz) maybe we NEED a nasty, arrogant blowhard who happens to love America to shake things up?
And a lot of his business success comes because he knows how to get the best people for the job at hand and when to delegate authority!
Re:your last line
If you send money to the RNC or if you have voted for a republican incumbent more than once or if you decide to sit out when told to do so by a Bushbot, then you are indeed part of the GOPe.
Exactly why Cruz and Trump need each other. Nobody on the horizon can compare with The Donald for efficiently cutting and gutting the inefficient segments that e need removed... and nobody on the horizon can compare with Cruz on actually pressing forward with limited-government ideals in all three Branches.
VERY cool! Thx, very much!
In the article I posted he writes that he has voted for every Republican since Reagan in 1980.
... I don’t want to make a nasty, arrogant blowhard like Trump the most powerful man in the world.
I am with you.
DT is the most low info presidential candidate in history. That’s why he is relatively quiet during debates. He doesn’t know even basic civics.
He is progressive, can’t help it. Trumpees all know this but they do not care.
“My favorite Trumpism is banning all Muslims from entering the United States âuntil we figure out whatâs going on.â
What the bloody hell does that even mean???!!!”
I take that as being a polite way of saying - “This is a temporary measure that won’t be going away for a long, long time”.
Okay let me take this one...I will gladly Gold Plate and mount this post on my wall with a light right above it. So when the air rushes out of the Mouth's ballon and he comes crashing to the ground, picks up his marbles mumbling to himself and disappears for a day or two....CrippleCreek and I will make a point to link you back to these words you posted.
Like the Hindenburg, it's gonna be an epic flame out. The fun part of what's coming is gonna be the Mouth's own speeches and words that do him in. No one else....
.... When that happens, kiss your liberties good, idiot!
Trump has no clue about liberties. You show your allegiance to your guy very well - don’t agree with someone call them names. Very childish, just like DT.
That is the best-case scenario with Trump, and I pray that you’re correct if he does win... but I see soooo many potential down-sides that I have to stick with Cruz until Cruz is gone. Then it is The Donald, on either the GOP or 3rd Party line.
AU H2O '64
“I only hope that Cruz is equally agressive and nasty when elected. Thatâs what we need.”
Some of these guys want a Ned Flanders for president....and then they will act astonished when the left steam-rolls the guy.
Or perhaps they forgot what happen to George W (take the high road) Bush?
