There was a time in my life when I was a campaign communications consultant, responsible for helping political campaigns come up with new and intriguing ways to engage voters using digital media. There is a reason I don't do it anymore, and that reason is, because no matter how many times I or any of my colleages explained that most Republican consultants had the pop culture knowledge of 80 year old men and couldn't find a connection to Millennials if they were accosted by an entire room of Urban Outfitters employees, they still produced things like this.
Though, in fairness, no one I worked with ever produced something this terrible. We had to wait for Jeb Bush to waste $100 million on a campaign before we got something this terrible. Behold, the Jeb! campaign's newest whack at Marco Rubio: a LSD-inspired, trippy hit job on his heeled boots set to Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walking."

I don't think it was lame. Ads these days have to grab your attention. It did that.
I was listening to the music and watching the dance routine. I missed most of the pop-up windows that had comments about Rubio.
Entertaining to listen to the new rendition of that old song. However, the ad misses. One would have to watch it again with mute engaged to catch the pop-ups.

Those who don't think the ad is that bad need to read the article about why it is. The author clearly points out that Rubio’s voters trend towards Millennial voters and that using a song that was from the 60’s is dumb.
Unless Nope! (my new acronym for his campaign) is trying to reach those few over 70-somethings that are undecided between the two of them . . .

Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots are Made for Walking."
The Global Facist's song of choice.
Is it any wonder his brother didn't hold the Toons responsible for Waco?

"Um, how many people under the age of, say, 50 even remember that song? What a stupid commercial."
Jessica Simpson did a cover of it:
They'll remember that one.
The video is on YouTube. It's worth a look.

If memory serves, wasn’t this tune used in Full Metal Jacket right as the movie transitioned from boot camp to Saigon?

Jeb is probably the worst candidate in history.
To: jimbo123
Not sure how that’s intended to help Bush. His consultants may as well be putting the paddles on a body that’s been floating bloated, feeding the gulls, for a week.

Yep, to a mini-skirt and Nancy Sinatra vinyl boots wearing little Vietnamese hooker. “Jeb Bush, him lose for you long time”.

I’m sorry, but it made me laugh, so in my opinion, still better than 90% of campaign ads so far. Nonetheless, the Bush ad that shows Rubio as a weathervane is much better, in fact, a pretty effective attack on Rubio and his flip-plopping record:
