Of course he is a citizen. He is not a natural.born citizen which is stipulated in the constitution. That requires both parents citizens and born on US soil. Even MCcAin born in a Panama hospital next to navy base had to have an opinion written and accepted by congress. If only a one parent citizenship is required then the crown prince of Jordan would qualify as well as any illegitimate child born to a soldier on foreign soil He can still serve in ghe senate or on the SCOTUS. Why does he insist on serving only as President Words have meaning. Natural BORN does not mean without medical assistance as someone tried to argue yesterday Two US citizen parents on US territory.
There are million of people who qualify. Why choose another one who doesn’t ?

From the U.S. Constitution:

ARTICLE II, SECTION 1, CLAUSE 5
No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident.

Bottom line: Cruz is eligible.

You misread it. Start with CITIZEN OF US at the time of signing of this constitution.
No one is alive who qualifies for president under that phrase. They have all died which leaves just NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution.....clearly indicates that the Framers, who were born Englishmen under the Colonies were exempt ............... The Framers became American Citizens in 1776 with the Declaration of Independence.

Bottom line: Cruz is eligible.

Cruz was a citizen at the time of the adoption of the Constitution? What's his secret? Is he a vampire? Did he get frozen in a block of ice and only recently thawed out? Does he have a really really old-looking portrait of himself stashed away somewhere?
