Birth of U.S. Citizens Abroad
A child born abroad to a U.S. citizen parent or parents may acquire U.S. citizenship at birth if certain statutory requirements are met. The childâs parents should contact the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate to apply for a Consular Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the United States of America (CRBA) to document that the child is a U.S. citizen. If the U.S. embassy or consulate determines that the child acquired U.S. citizenship at birth, a consular officer will approve the CRBA application and the Department of State will issue a CRBA, also called a Form FS-240, in the childâs name.
According to U.S. law, a CRBA is proof of U.S. citizenship and may be used to obtain a U.S. passport and register for school, among other purposes.
The childâs parents may choose to apply for a U.S. passport for the child at the same time that they apply for a CRBA. Parents may also choose to apply only for a U.S. passport for the child. Like a CRBA, a full validity, unexpired U.S. passport is proof of U.S. citizenship.
Parents of a child born abroad to a U.S. citizen or citizens should apply for a CRBA and/or a U.S. passport for the child as soon as possible. Failure to promptly document a child who meets the statutory requirements for acquiring U.S. citizenship at birth may cause problems for the parents and the child when attempting to establish the childâs U.S. citizenship and eligibility for the rights and benefits of U.S. citizenship, including entry into the United States. By law, U.S. citizens, including dual nationals, must use a U.S. passport to enter and leave the United States.

What is this “anita” thing?
Makes no sense.
Yeah! We too often forget that Hussein entered college as a foreign student, that he stated he was born in Kenya, that he loves the sound of the morning Islamic prayers, etc...
Hussien was a citizen of another country, which should have disqualified him, holding a foreign country passport. His mother was 17 when he was born, not an adult, to confer citizenship to him.
Why does Ann Coulter believe that Hussaein is a valid citizen, one who hates America, and Ted Cruz, who loves America is not? She has really jumped the shark. She is too full of herself, has come to that place where she actually believes she is the smartest person in the room in any given place.
“What is this âanitaâ thing?
Makes no sense.”
I have no clue myself. Looks like TDS makes people see things.
You are now arguing that not only is Ted Cruz not a Natural Born Citizen, but isn't an American Citizen at all?
Is that your point?
Cboldt, good points.
The crba is something to show/prove what already exists.
Ted’s mom may have gotten the paperwork done when Ted was in high school, when he went to England for that competition.
This is the biggest waste of time in the history of wasting time. Congratulations!!!
Troll.

I will happily vote for Ted if he is the nominee.
That’s funny. No. I’m not a Cruz fan, but really, dopey? Go back to DailyKos and cry about how Hillary is a victim. LOL
Experts weigh in on both sides, for every expert who says everything is settled there is one who says everything is not settled.
I won't hesitate to vote for Cruz if he is the nominee.
This is a good question. If the only birth certificate one gets is from the country where one is born (Canada in this case), there must be an additional “certificate” to assure the baby is a US citizen via the parent. This only makes sense, espcially if the baby wants to be US president down the line. “Documented” is what we require of others in our country (well, used to), why is it such a leap to ask it of a Canadian born candidate running for US president?
You will find plenty of fellow "Conservative" Cruz critics.
...where the Trump supporters act like tween girls at a Justin Beiber concert.

As valid as the stuff I see posted about Trump.
I won’t hesitate to vote for Cruz if he is the nominee.
Here’s one of the many videos that will be appearing in Democrat attack ads:

Isn’t the citizenship issue separate from the eligibility issue? No one questions Ted’s citizenship.
That is an interesting interpretation. However, I think it does not make sense because if the only requirement was to be a citizen at the time of adoption, then why is the natural born requirement included at all? In other words, if all the clause does is require that the first president be a citizen at the time of the Constitution’s adoption, which appears to be how you are reading it, then why have the bit about natural born?
I stated a fact. It has been argued and many don’t see it as relevant. Nowhere in my statement did I say that Cruz isn’t a US citizen.
Should? Not "must"?
Interesting.
Has Cruz had any trouble travelling abroad?
The OP questions Cruz's citizenship.
Finding natural born citizenship depends on finding citizenship. Once citizenship is found and agreed, the question can be framed more than one way, and opposing sides choose the framework that produces the outcome they prefer.
But for some reason, Trump supporters don't seem to be interested in helping their own candidate.
