The father of the billionaires Charles G. and David H. Koch helped construct a major oil refinery in Nazi Germany that was personally approved by Adolf Hitler, according to a new history of the Kochs and other wealthy families.
The book, âDark Money,â by Jane Mayer, traces the rise of the modern conservative movement through the activism and money of a handful of rich donors: among them Richard Mellon Scaife, an heir to the Mellon banking fortune, and Harry and Lynde Bradley, brothers who became wealthy in part from military contracts but poured millions into anti-government philanthropy.
But the book is largely focused on the Koch family, stretching back to its involvement in the far-right John Birch Society and the political and business activities of the father, Fred C. Koch, who found some of his earliest business success overseas in the years leading up to World War II. One venture was a partnership with the American Nazi sympathizer William Rhodes Davis, who, according to Ms. Mayer, hired Mr. Koch to help build the third-largest oil refinery in the Third Reich, a critical industrial cog in Hitlerâs war machine.

And, Joe Kennedy made his money from prohibition. I suspect that many of the prominent names in history got their family start generations ago doing something unsavory.
Early on lots of people thought Hitler had saved Germany. Early on radiation kills cancer. It’s only when you get too much of something that you recognize the double edged nature of it.
A fun new twist on blood libel, brought to you by the Democrat Party!
And George Soros personally helped collect valuables from Jews.
And part of Al Gore’s fortune came from his father’s alliance with Armand Hammer who had close ties with Stalin. And then there are the Clintons and their cozy relationships with the Chinese, the Burmese, etc.
So operatives of the Democrat Party are now assigning blame for the Nazi War Machine on the Koch Brothers’ father? For building an oil refinery? Very likely, part of the reason was that it was difficult to do business of ANY kind in the United States during that period, Germany seemed to have a growing prosperity, and the work was not going to be simply expropriated by the government authorities before the contractors had been paid, as it was in the Soviet Union at the time.
Probably as much blame could be assigned to Joe Kennedy Senior, who was FDR’s Ambassador to the Court of St. James, the British locality for the ambassadors from other nations. Agitating for anti-war activity in the US, instead of presenting a united front with England and France in the face of coming Nazi aggression, may have done a great deal to have shaped the confrontation when it came.
IIRC, Joe Kennedy was a Nazi sympathizer who didn’t hold a very good view of Jews. Also, I seem to remember some Nazi connection with Prescott Bush with regard to bankrolling the Nazis in some manner.
Hitler was a power-holic. This is why he couldn’t stop; ironically if he had, we might be giving him honorable mentions in a very different world history.
And in 25 years, when what’s left of civilization is trying to figure out why nearly all of Europe is un-inhabitable due to radiation from nuclear explosions, we will look back and see that Obama & Clinton personally profited from giving Iran the nuke, opening the floodgates of muzzzie invaders into formerly Christian lands, and bankrupted the world’s only defender of freedom.
I guess “Hero” is a fleeting title. /s
Well Christianity got the good reputation it had, because it sported a Christ, after all.
The problem is that it morphed from a God movement into a movement of men. God permits this, because His relationship with people is all about choice; He is no puppet master.
Maybe recent events have finally taught Christianity to get serious about Christ again. Been hearing some things to this effect recently.
So is your version of Christianity the only “true” version?
The NY Times and Harvard university both supported Hitler before WW2. Why now the hypocracy from the NY Times?
And still, nobody in the press can find anyone who went to college with Obama.
This new book will definitely get her a spot on CoasttoCoaatAM. They already have regulars to handle the Bush things.
More "Nazi-loving" Republicans joining the Dulles brothers and Prescott Bush and family -- just in time for election 2016 too. What a deal!
Mr. Noory does not appear to be a fan of Obama's but somebody at C2C sure hates Republicans.. you won't hear guests talking for two hours about W. Averell Harriman and Joe Kennedy and Nazi Germany. No one will be on talking about Hillary's admiration of Saul Alinsky, Bill's sex crimes, Carter working with the Soviets to defeat Reagan.
I remember one show dedicated to criticism of Obama. It was four or five years ago when Noory and Linda Moulton Howe blasted Obama for signing the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on New Year's eve -- of course the original act came from the Bush administration.
I don’t think God is too happy with what he sees today.
So?
We were not at war with Germany at the time. In fact they were a nation in good standing.
GM and Ford both built vehicle factories in Germany (and were compensated when we bombed them). IBM sold ‘em punch card tech. The concept for the German Stuka came from a Curtiss scout bomber that Germany purchased.
And all these folks and more did business with the Soviets, too. Why isn’t it an issue doing business with a regime that made the Nazis look like little girlie wannabes?
