Agreed. She makes a critical analysis: Marines in Egypt were already in the US embassy, protecting US personnel from swarming mobs outside since early in the morning. No way would the military brass in Europe be sitting around doing nothing. There would be rapid response teams sitting on airplanes with propellers spinning, just waiting to go. All they needed was the never obtained order.
Just look at the Special Ops a few days ago in Afghanistan. A single AC-130 gunship turned a rout into a win. There could have been one in Benghazi in a couple of hours.
They could not afford a Black Hawk Down situation so they gave the stand down order. They also may have thought they had anti-aircraft missiles.
