Well said! Trump is the right candidate for right now.
In a perfect world it would be Trump/Cruz for 8 years then Cruz/? for another 8. Maybe dreaming but... who knows. Stranger things have happened like obie getting elected a second time.
I will do further checking. I have read Sandberg’s biography of Lincoln, but it was several years ago and to recall one small paragraph from such a large work is difficult for me.
I, like you, am also suspicious since I do not remember ever reading such a quote by Lincoln, and there are so many quotes attributed to him that it is sometimes hard to know which ones are genuine and which are either misquotes, or out and out frauds.
Just an update on that Lincoln “quote”. Check out this article and sources at:
Turns out your instincts were correct.
Great find. Thank you.
.
An honorable man would not conduct the business that Trump does.
An honorable man would not use political influence to apply eminent domain to purloin the real estate equity rightfully due to working class land owners for his own gain.
YMMV
I saw this posted by a friend on FB about a week ago.
I thought they had written it themselves. I should have known they didn’t come up with it on their own.
The left has been given their talking points and marching orders.
why do you trust Donald Trump?
I've read some of this books, I've seen the Apprentice. In fact, some of the people on FR have testified that he is an honest man.
1) His leaving the Republican party and changing to Democrat. Leaving the Republicans and becoming independent because the part leadership sucks is one thing, but changing to Democrat in post 9/11 America?
Some of this was probably supporting the people in power.
2) His past associations with the Clintons.
Well, he's fighting them now, big time!
3) He has in the past has favored gay marriage.
My daughter is gay, so that's a tough one.
6) His ego. It's reknown. How can I know this whole thing isn't just a sham to fuel his ego?
I know this irritates people, but he does laugh at himself about this. The other thing is that he has accomplished a lot of things in his life and he wants to be sure to tell people.
All that being said, I don't believe anyone running as Republican can win a national election these days. To win a Republican candidate needs to do exactly what the 2004 map was just to barely win. Since then Virginia, Colorado, Nevada and Florida have become rock solid blue states.
Check the 2012 election. Romney was actually pretty close. If he had taken Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania he would have won.
Ohio and Florida were super close, so I think a Republican that people are eager to vote for can win. Voter turn out is a biggy in this upcoming election.
