Once the sanctions against Cuba truly lift, we could see a huge surge of sugar cane coming in from Cuba, which has ideal conditions for sugar cane production and the cost of shipping the sugar cane to the USA for processing is relatively low.

We have had a signed free trade treaty with Mexico for over 20 years yet sugar imports from Mexico are still severely restricted to protect sugar beet farmers in Florida.

Agriculture is the least free trade in the world.

I doubt we see a flood from Cuba.

And if we do Senators from Florida will put a quick end to it.
