Ted Cruz said during an appearance in Iowa on Monday that thereâs a difference between him and Donald Trump on immigration.
The Texas senator, who is leading the field of Republican presidential candidates in Iowa according to the latest polls, was asked by a man in the state if, like Trump, he believed that all undocumented immigrants should be deported.
Cruz replied, âAbsolutely yes.â
âAnd in fact, look, thereâs a difference,â said Cruz. âHeâs advocated allowing folks to come back in and become citizens. I oppose that.â
Cruz is on a six-day trip around the state to shore up support for his candidacy. He made the remarks during an appearance in Boone. The video of the exchange was uploaded to YouTube on Tuesday. Hereâs a transript of the exchange:
QUESTIONER: Both you and Donald Trump are really strong on immigration, but he supports deporting all the illegal immigrants. Are you willing to say the same?
TED CRUZ: Absolutely, yes. We should enforce the law.
Q: All?
T.C.: We should enforce the law.
Q: Ok.
T.C.: And in fact, look, thereâs a difference. Heâs advocated allowing folks to come back in and become citizens. I oppose that.
Q: So no citizens and all of them?
T.C.: So, if you read I have a very detailed 11-page immigration proposal thatâs on my website itâs TedCruz.org. It was designed with Steve King and Jeff Sessions were the two who sat down with me to prepare it and it is enforce the law across the board.
I “swarm” it and it goes in “breaking news” when Cruz is not on the level, and I have documented it here.
This is Breaking News LOL
You are welcome to do so.
Now I think it is you that is twisting things.
Trump said expedite the illegals to bring them back legal.
It is not fair to those who are waiting to come in legally now.
If he succeeds, people will be tempted to come in illegally so they can be expedited to legal status. They will circumvent the legal entry process.
It will be like the amnesty seekers all over again.
Reagan Administration passed amnesty, then the border was flooded with people trying to get the same. They figured if they wait long enough, it will happen again.
Trump’s plan comes close to making that a reality again.
I have heard Trump say he will expedite the legal immigration process not expedite illegals back into US. You have video to back up your claims?
Interview with Dana Bash on CNN, in June, I think.
I do not have the link, but you should be able to find it
What Trump said to Dana Bash, just this last year, on CNN:
I would get people out and then have an expedited way of getting them back into the country so they can be legal. A lot of these people are helping us and sometimes it is jobs a citizen of the United States does not want to do. I want to move them out, and we are going to move them back in and let them be legal.
Expedited seems unfair to people who have tried to do this legally and correctly.
Cruz has my vote. What good is deporting illegal aliens if you let them come right back in? That never made any sense to me.
Neither have I. But I’m donating.
Now I want the Sabo buttons on the Cruz site. :)
Y’all are acting frantic, LOL.
I’m not even in your “frantic” league. You win there.
And that’s another thing you guys have a tendency to do-—”no I’m not, you are.” Like children.
Just know, the more agitated you get, the more we enjoy it.
Lol. We’re downsizing. Gotta reduce our swag intake. I’ll donate again later this month, in the next billing cycle.
As do those of Cruz.
One thing is certain: It's NOT Cruz, but Trump who has brought this issue to the forefront.
To believe otherwise is fatuous.
FYI, before you go any farther, I prefer Cruz to Trump. I just don't think it helps to pretend history is different than it was. Also, unlike a lot of Cruzers (the more rabid ones), I'll support Trump big time if he wins the nomination.
Children? You’re the best at it. I usually give you guys the last post. A little reality here. Cruz getting toasted. In Breaking News we see...
“Reuters Poll [Trump 41% Cruz 13% Carson 10% Rubio 8%]

Maybe we should save back something to chip in and buy some Xanax for some of the Trump fans.
Nice try.
Oh so NOW Cruz means what he says?
Pfft.
He’s a day a late and a HB1 Visa short.
I believe this is the first time that Cruz called for mass deportations...better late than never.
As to whether “the good ones” get to come back quickly depends on just how willing we are to shut down our economy. If we expedite the return of the millions of skilled workers, probably not too disruptive. If we put them at the end of the line and take in millions of unskilled people, then very disruptive. If we don’t allow any back, then GOD FORBID, we’ll have to pull the millennials out of their parents’ basements and teach them which end of a screwdriver to hold.
In other words, going back even 20 years will be VERY DIFFICULT, thanks to Bush-43, and now Obama. Americans are now PATHETIC when it comes to doing this type of work...yes, I know, some are very skilled - but we’ll NEVER find the millions we would need, at least not until after several years of intense training and weaning off video games.
Would it do any good?
