The article said, and I wish I'd saved it but didn't, that there were lots of people in small towns who didn't have a job good enough to pay their health care.
I thought, yeah, lady, an awful lot of people are biting the bullet to pay not only theirs with low co-pay, high deductible, threat of penalties, so you can have cheap insurance.
I'm not sure how it worked before Obamacare. I know the uninsured used emergency rooms, some accrued very high health care bills, the illegal aliens got a free ride to the extent that the hospitals billed insured extra to cover the indigent. And people with pre-existing couldn't get ins or had to purchase catastrophic.
I went for over 15 years without any insurance and paid all my medical expenses, some went into collection, but I eventually paid. Then I got catastrophic with a $5K deductible, can't remember if it had any co-pays or not, think not. That went on for about 8 years, each year getting more expensive until I went on Medicare.
Medicare is certainly better than aging and having no insurance, but co-pays for regular drs are reasonable, anything over that with a specialist which is everybody else, EACH VISIT, has a $40+ co-pay. It covers one eye exam a year but not glasses. It covers no dental unless I don't know how bad you'd have to get before they'd pay for anything.
It does have a good prescription plan if you opt for it. All the extras come out of your social security check, premiums for Part B. And then they robbed Medicare to pay for O'Care, and I had to pay monthly premiums, not too high, but I don't know what this next year will be yet.
The people on top notch employee insurance and Medicaid have it the best except on Medicaid they can seize assets after your death. I don't think there is a way to make it fair for everyone even if we went to single payer. There would just be more padding and abuse under that.
I read that after your death Medicare can place a LIEN on your house!
Bet the sheeple don’t know that...
Also I know many on Ocare have sizeable investments but that those assets aren’t considered in the formulae to obtain said Ocare.
So keep pulling that wagon; millions depend upon you...
“Medicaid they can seize assets after your death.”
Not always.
