“Medicaid they can seize assets after your death.”
Not always.
.
There are probably ways around it. I never had a need to delve into it very deeply, just took note of things people said.
The only family it's come up with so far, it was none of my business.
I have LTC insurance I purchased in 1995, but now I'm finding out it is not enough to cover expenses in a facility, $107 per day. It sounds like a lot but not enough for a decent place around here. It won't cover any in-home care.
So I'm not on very firm footing myself. Plus you about have to get an attorney to help with the contract or facilities will start charging for every little pill, etc. And if they find out I have other assets, they will try to get those, too. And all my social security.
So I'm not in as good shape as I thought I'd be. Plus I'm worried about letting a visiting nurse in the house. Get a free visit and a bribe for one visit. We've been trying to get ahold of you and can't. I know, it's on purpose.
But if you get to a point, your doctor has a lot of say so. Went through a lot with my aunt. Dr said she can't live alone any more. They can force you into care. So we hired a 24-hour helper from Poland, then I went and stayed for 6 months to help her.
