-—Wow, this McCaffrey kid is GOOD!-—

After the Heisman vote McCaffrey had something to prove; and he proved it. That 75 yard TD pass on the first play of the game was in the committee's face. Watch how he avoids tackles just a quick twitch and he is gone, always moving ahead.

He has had the best single season for a player in college football history. He will miss Hogan next year.

"lil flower and blam remember"

I'm still chuckling about what orlop9 posted. Here it is:

"Vince Lombardi, after winning the Super Bowl, was asked if the Packers had removed all doubt as to who was the best football team in the world. Lombardi replied, “Well, I don’t know. We haven’t played Alabama yet!!”

A whole lot needs to be fixed, and I’m not so sure now that McElwain is the guy to fix it.

I think the thing that makes this kid so special is not only his speed but also his vision...watching the slo mo of his runs...I don’t recall any running back anticipating the defensive moves so quickly as he does...

A little reality re the Stanford band members.

Decades ago one of our younger relatives in his senior year was rushed by Stanford. Not for his grades, his high IQ, his wrestling abilities, but for his ability to play the Alto Sax since he was in grade school.

He, lead his his conservative high school band onto the football field due to his marching abilities and being first Sax. His freshman year in Highschool, he played football. At the end of the freshman game, he had to rush to the Locker Room, get out of his football uniform and get into his band uniform to lead the band on to the field for the varsity game.

His band director, a great guy told him not worry about it, and to lead the band onto the field in his football uniform. He did that a few times and 95% of the fans loved it. The 5% of traditionalist hated it. The band director told the bitchers, said if anyone who could replace this young man with their sax abilities, to could challenge him. None of the challengers were good enough. He was the lead Sax for 4 years in high school

He was offered a Standard scholarship for his Sax and marching skills, half the first year and a full ride the next 3 years based on his sax and marching skills. He opted out.

Anyone, who believes the students in the Stanford marching band are not good with their band instruments should just stay away and let the Stanford band do their thing.

Who else sees McCaffrey on the Patriots in a couple of years lol.

Dreaming here. Hopefully, the former niners can draft Hogan. Then, McCaffrey re joins with him as a wide receiver.

Yep

Many Texas high school football stadiums are 50 million bucks and hold 20,000 more or less

Incredible

Growing up near Stanford, I know PC, fer shur...
Especially in the late 60s and early 70s when my high school was part of a “sit in”, my dad’s company was “divorced” from Stanford for “making napalm” and S. I. Hayakawa was a God in my home...
Best part: Santana before they were famous, Tower of Power when they got a little famous, Stanford dorm parties as a high schooler and getting the hell out of the Bay Area eventually...

No, I grew up in Los Altos CA before the dot coms and the McMansions when you could eat warm apricots off the orchard trees on the way home from school....but I know Palo Alto really well as well as the entire Bay Area...

Great memories...did she watch his funeral? My mum and I sobbed our way through it. A relative worked at Mugu then and saw the airplane and cortège.
Later we visited the Reagan Library in Simi Valley. At the start of the tour, it shows Reagan’s birth certificate and some guy in our group said, “At least this one is legal....” Cracked us all up.....

Sounds like you might have been at Los Altos High when I was at Palo Alto High - ‘63-’66.

Totally agree, Grampa...
I had the pleasure of listening to the band play concerts after home games in the 70s and they wailed Chicago stuff like nobody’s business...
Just read their dissing of Iowa by playing the theme of FarmerLove.com (?) and having a “cow” on the field...Iowa fans popped a vein over that!
Just friended the band on Facebook....very funny.

Close but not quite...’’68 to ‘71...but knew some PA High folks then...both our schools are rather chee-chee these days, I’m afraid...but did Jobs send his kids there? Don’t think so...
I knew some Homestead High kids too, when Jobs was there...no blip on the radar screen yet...

Yeah, I grew up going to Stanford games. Loved that old stadium (”The Farm”). Stanford was generally so bad that usually every week, large sections of the 85,000-seat stadium were empty.

Then, under Bill Walsh, they completely tore down that wonderful old stadium and rebuild a smaller stadium, 50,000 seats. Right after that, Sanford become a perennial top 25/top 10 team and probably could have filled the old stadium. Sigh. These things happen.

I think this 2015 Stanford team may very well be their best ever.

The FAU game disgusted me, that should never happen. I lost a lot of confidence in McElwain after that.

I attended Almond, then San Antonio Junior high, then Los Altos High in 64-65, before moving to Austin Texas for a year, then to Tonganoxie, Ks where I graduated HS in 68. Attending 3 HS wasn’t much fun at times.

Opinions vary. Stop drinking anti-freeze and huffing whippet canisters. You’re gonna put an eye out or something.

You are probably right but I hardly recognize the new stadium and miss the casual, homey feeling of the old...
Not a Walsh fan but love the present coach...and his leadership shows....
