To some people in 21st century secular fundamentalist America, even a holiday is an excuse to make people walk on eggshells.
There's one man in the presidential race who understands that frustration, and he's bringing political incorrectness back.
On December 19, Donald Trump told Family Research Council President Tony Perkins that, "One of the things I always say, and I say it lightheartedly but I mean it -- it's actually not supposed to be so lighthearted -- and I get standing ovations, especially in Iowa and certain places -- is we are going to start saying 'Merry Christmas' again."
Good for Trump.
To most people Merry Christmas comes naturally, and Happy Holidays is an adjustment. If you hear more of the former this year, it could be because Trump's popularity as a bombastic, sometimes transgressive speaker has started to rub off. To some people, even saying Merry Christmas might feel downright naughty.

Back to basics . . . duh!
Jesus, contrary to popular contemporary thought, was bold. He expects us to be bold
We cannot expect the moderate Muslims, if they do exist, to fight the enemy. We can’t expect liberals to pave the way for Christians to live as Christians
Forget it
Oh. Merry Christmas
A long time ago Happy Holidays was fine.
It meant Christmas and New Year (and also Chanukah).
It wasn’t a substitute for Merry Christmas, but was indicative of what the liberal Stalinists call inclusiveness.
It was a real inclusiveness based on being American and Christmas time being such a great time of year that everyone enjoyed.
Today, the worst is Happy Holiday, singular.
Everywhere I go across America, people are choosing to say, “Merry Christmas” this year. They are saying it loud and clear. I’m not sure Trump is the reason. I think they are just fed up with the insanity, forced Stepford Wives speech patterns the Left forced on America and that they really, really want their country back.
I heard more Merry Christmas spoken in return since the 70s! At one store I commented that we should all thank Mr. Trump and they are agreed.
AMEN!
Merry Christmas!
I don’t know. I think Trump played a factor...
good..
I’ve never stopped saying Merry Christmas (except when I knew the other people were not Christians, of course, then out of courtesy I do say Happy Holidays)
Fortune favors the bold.
One of my clan mottoes.
:)
But I don't alter my greeting and well-wishes to avoid hurting someone else's feelings. That's a liberal, politically correct approach.
I noticed this year almost all stores employees said “Merry Christmas!” instead of something liberal like, “Have a wonderful holiday”. They also seemed happier saying Merry Christmas.
I noticed the same thing - many more store employees saying “Merry Christmas!” Same with UPS drivers. Refreshing.
Being considerate of others’ feelings may well be a “liberal, politically correct approach” as you say. But it is also, and IMHO far more fundamentally, in keeping with Jesus’ principle teaching:
Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:31
