American lawmakers push bill to counter Putin message

Russia has reorganized and intensified its international propaganda machine so effectively over the past decade that some Western lawmakers and diplomats say Washington now is badly losing a global messaging war to the increasingly modernized blitz of anti-U.S. content from Moscow-backed news operations.

Leaders in the House and Senate have not put their full weight behind the Royce-Engel legislation, although it moved swiftly through the committee in May.

Not a stupid question, at all . . . seeing that you cannot answer it. If you are willing to make excuses for RT by pointing to the likes of MSNBC, how come you don’t do the same in reverse?

Not irrelevant at all. You’re not the only one here who points at our MSM when he or she is told that RT is owned by the Russian government. I suppose people think that they’re making an intelligent observation, but it holds no water whatsoever. When’s the last time you saw someone here excusing the bias of CNN by pointing at RT?

I think the point that rebelbase is trying to make is that because RT is wholly owned and controlled by the Russian government it is inherently more reliable that the MSM in the U.S. This is because the MSM is in Obama’s pocket, whereas RT presents an anti-U.S. bias. What rebelbase and the other useful idiots and Putinistas do is conflate an anti-U.S. bias with opposition to Obama. Because Obama is such a catastrophe as a president, that must mean that Russian anti-Americanism is only an expression of animosity against Obama. Don’t think for a second that RT et al will suddenly become nice an fluffy toward the U.S. if only the right person were elected president (unless it were Bernie Sander, perhaps). The Soviets painted Carter as the anti-Christ right up to the moment Reagan go elected.

The western press is 95% LIBERAL and 98% misleading.

RT is 95% factual and 5% polishing the apple for Russia (which they rightly deserve) .

On 3 specific issues, show me where the MSM propaganda was right and RT was wrong in it's reporting (links appreciated).

>>>>The oil price war is a worldwide effort to take Russia down.<<<

and it's working. At least here in Canuckistan. Canadian dollar lost more than 20% last year, at current prices exploitation of oil is not profitable any longer (losses in Alberta estimated to over $200B so far) and the entire economy is in doldrums.

In the meantime, Ruskies buying cheap gold and trading with India and China in local currencies, bypassing Dollar.

In regards to so-called "Navy Patriot", John Fonda Kerry was in the Navy too. And Obama's Jeremiah "G-D America" Wright was in the Marines, as was Charlie "The Red" Rangel and Harry Reid, on and on. Fact is, so-called "Navy Patriot" has nothing but praise for KGB/FSB Putin, even in the face of Russia's actions in Eastern Europe and their continual military support for various Latin-American Marxist dictatorships (see my earlier posts above). Since you're obviously perfectly OK with all that too, and you similarly posts mostly puff pieces on Putin, including from your consistent source, "Russia Today", a phony-baloney propaganda site operated by the Russian government, you and he are basically two peas in a pod.

LOL--keen to the bias in the American media, and blind to the bias in the Russian media.

Par for the course.

"and you similarly posts mostly puff pieces on Putin"

I have never posted any article that was complimentary of Putin, or where he was the principal subject. Nor have I ever offered any commentary that was complimentary of Putin.

And that makes you a known liar, or somebody who imagines things not true, or both.

I have reviewed Navy Patriot's posts back to 12/18 and there is not a single post that mentions Putin, same as mine.

Why do you continue this libel?

It's demonstrable by reviewing posting histories that it is not true.

You're joking, right, little snitch? Damn near every single thread or comment posted by so-called "Navy Patriot" is supportive of Russia and their expansionist agenda. You I'm not as sure about. That is, whether most of your threads and posts are supportive of Russian expansionism. However, I am sure that a lot of them are.

Took me about 14 seconds to find this long list of pro-Russia threads posted by your pal who goes by the despicably deceiving handle "Navy Patriot" (see link below).

Roughly a third are from the Russian government's "Russia Today" website, the same Russian propaganda website that you so often post articles from. Most of his other posts, if not directly mentioning Russia, in some way, support Russia's expansionist aims in the Middle East and/or Eastern Europe.

I get it.

You equate posting a thread from RT as being pro Russian expansionism and pro Putin. It's OK that you think that, but when you accuse people of things that are not true, that's not OK.

It's absolutely true that so-called "Navy Patriot", and you, perhaps to a lesser extent(?), posts mostly stuff that is supportive of Putin's expansionist agenda. Obviously, anything from RT (Russia Today) is supportive of it.

Here's some more info I just dug up on the creator of Russia Today (RT), Mikhail Lesin. ie, the guy who was just last month found dead in a Wash DC hotel...

The article is from last December (2014)

__________________________________

"Mikhail Lesin has stepped down as head of major state-controlled media holding Gazprom-Media, the company said late last week.

Gazprom-Media, whose holdings include independent radio station Ekho Moskvy, said Lesin's resignation was due to family reasons, Russian media reports said Friday.

The holding's board of directors will finalize his resignation at an upcoming meeting, Gazprom-Media was cited by Ekho Moskvy as saying. No replacement has been named.

Earlier, a flurry of reports of Lesin's imminent resignation appeared on Russian news wires, all based on undisclosed sources and giving divergent accounts of the motive.

Forbes Russia cited sources in the media and government as confirming the resignation, with one of the individuals claiming that the decision was made personally by President Vladimir Putin."
