I have learned not to let bad endorsements be my primary consideration for who is worthy of my support. Sometimes the reasons are obvious, like with Sarah Palin supporting McCain, Santorum supporting Specter, and Santorum supporting thing Sebelius for HHS. Other times, there are chits and agreements long agreed upon behind the scenes.
I am not willing to say that Gowdy is a RINO forever and ever because of this endorsement. He may have genuine fear and mistrust of Trump, and thinks that Rubio is the best chance of stopping him. Many of us found ourselves hopping on trains we didn’t like the last couple of times, when trying to derail McCain and Romney.
My guess is Gowdy is a conservative, but a go along get along conservative who doesn’t trust Trump, doesn’t like Cruz’ approach, and figures Rubio is the best of what’s left.
No hero, but not worth primary-ing.
It’s about amnesty and the US Chamber, Gowdy has been and is for amnesty. Did he actually accomplish anything with the Benghazi hearings? has hillary suffered any consequence other than inconvenience? What has Gowdy actually done that is conservative?
