Paul Ryan’s Christmas Warning: American Companies Will Shut Down Without More Foreign Workers
Breitbart.com ^ | 23 Dec 2015 | Julia Hahn

In a Tuesday morning interview with radio host Bill Bennett, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) defended his omnibus bill’s controversial expansion in the H-2B visa program, which would allow foreign workers to fill blue-collar American jobs, by arguing that if the provision were not included, American companies would be forced to shut their doors.

Bennett pressed Ryan on the details of the H-2B visa expansion, slipped 700-pages into Ryan’s 2,009-page omnibus spending bill—asking Ryan directly, “Do you believe there are not enough Americans to fill these jobs?”

In response, Ryan described the H-2B visa expansion as “a very small, discrete provision.”

Despite the nation’s high levels of unemployment and stagnating wages, Ryan continued on to assert, without offering evidence in support of his claim, that corporations are facing a shortage of labor, which rendered the provision necessary. Ryan said:

The reason that this was passed is because there was some seasonal surge jobs that they can’t find local workers to fill, like the seafood packaging industry in Chesapeake Bay. You have seafood season, you need people to package those things, to can them. In the North, we have the summer tourism industry. What it is is there’s seasonal industries where they can’t find local people to do the jobs: kids are already in college or things like that where you have a surge in workers.

Skilled labor:
Over many years as an IT consultant I’ve been in many companies that had 2 or 3 big projects in the budget. But it was impossible for them to fully staff all projects.

Management had 3 choices. 1) Kill 1 or more of the projects and use its partial staff to fill the surviving project.
2) Ship one or more projects to India.
3) Bring in immigrants (mostly Indians) to fill the holes in all three projects.

Option 3 is better for us citizens than options 1 or 2. Those immigrants rent and buy housing that pays taxes to the schools and police.

Unskilled labor:
A storm damaged 100% of roofs in a subdivision of 10,000 houses. Insurance companies paid no questions asked. The money was flowing. Roofing companies descended on the working class suburb. They signed up the homeowners easily.

They looked for workers. They were willing to hire excons and most anyone who could show up for work sober and climb a ladder to the roof of a ranch home. They advertised in papers, on radio, tv. They went to unemployment offices, all types of government funded programs for the unemployed. They could not find anyone willing and able to work.

They had no choice but to hire immigrants (both legal and illegal). Those men started at $15/hr and those who proved to be good workers got raises up to $25/hr as crew leaders...meaning they got a company van to pickup the others who had no wheels...and feed them coffee and donuts on the way to the job site.

Some of those immigrants eventually started their own construction companies, some in roofing, some in carpentry, drywall, excavation, landscaping, etc. Those new companies then employed more men, mostly immigrants (legal and illegal) or anchor babies who had now grown up.

True stories. The CoC knows these facts. Middle managers know these facts. Homeowners who had their roof replaced know these facts. Most everyone not in denial knows these facts.

Exactly,
Average Americans have no work ethic,
College grads are handed a degree with little work
Expect employment to be the same
Finding people that want to work is very difficult.

Paul Ryan needs to be Schlonged.

He will be....once Trump is officially in office, and more true conservatives regain the courage to primary his....and OTHER RINO’s arses.

We had a TEAnami wave, in 2010 and 2012...we gave Midge and Bonehead a majority - and look what they’ve done with it - nothing, except give 0blama EVERY destructive thing he’s asked for.

Trump will force clean the cesspool of DC and get principled conservatives to run for office, once again. We The People will be silent, no more.

Merry Christmas :)

Exactly, Average Americans have no work ethic,

They used to. But that was back when you either worked or went hungry. Socialism creates sissies.

College grads are handed a degree with little work Expect employment to be the same

Most people with college degrees have no business having a college degree. And most college degrees are not worth the paper they are printed on.

Finding people that want to work is very difficult.

Take away their food stamps and Section 8 housing and just watch them get motivated.

In my opinion the only way to limit (not end) the corruption is term limits for members of Congress. And the only way that's going to happen is an Article V Convention of the States to amend the Constitution. I support a Convention of the States to propose some limited Amendments to the US Constitution. In particular for enacting term limits for Congress and the federal judges, removing the 16th and 17th Amendments and other minor changes and limiting and more precisely defining the power of the Presidency. This would be a start but wouldn't solve all the of the our nation's governmental problems.

========================================================= Admittedly, I'm not very familiar with the intricacies of an Art V COS, however, does that not open all amendments to possibly change? Is that not a significant risk considering the anti 1st, 2nd and 4th amendment crowds?

H-1 and H-2B visa applications often involve scams many businesses employ to get what they want: Virtual slave labor. They must show that there is a shortage or lack of Americans available to do the work. One trick is to advertise the job in a publication nobody, or a very narrow portion of the public, ever sees. And then, after nobody applies - because nobody saw it, but who’s actually checking? - they get to claim a shortage. Ryan is helping to perpetuate this scam, and many others to circumvent the hiring of Americans. If he doesn’t know this, he’s too stupid to trust; if he does know it, he’s too corrupt to re-elect.

Career politicians such as Ryan, Rubio, Cruz, etc have no choice except to obey their masters, the rich donors. And the rich donors increase profits with cheap foreign workers.

Eliminate minimum wage, eliminate welfare payments for the able-bodied who refuse to work and reduce the labor supply by deporting illegal immigrants. Sounds good in theory.

On the other hand there is a lot of hard labor being done by immigrants and there has been for a long time. There are so many physically demanding jobs being done by immigrants that you wouldn’t be able to find enough physically fit Americans to do them. It has been like that for a long time. Since at least the mid-60s to my recollection.
