Paul Ryan’s Christmas Warning: American Companies Will Shut Down Without More Foreign Workers
Breitbart.com ^ | 23 Dec 2015 | Julia Hahn

In a Tuesday morning interview with radio host Bill Bennett, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) defended his omnibus bill’s controversial expansion in the H-2B visa program, which would allow foreign workers to fill blue-collar American jobs, by arguing that if the provision were not included, American companies would be forced to shut their doors.

Bennett pressed Ryan on the details of the H-2B visa expansion, slipped 700-pages into Ryan’s 2,009-page omnibus spending bill—asking Ryan directly, “Do you believe there are not enough Americans to fill these jobs?”

In response, Ryan described the H-2B visa expansion as “a very small, discrete provision.”

Despite the nation’s high levels of unemployment and stagnating wages, Ryan continued on to assert, without offering evidence in support of his claim, that corporations are facing a shortage of labor, which rendered the provision necessary. Ryan said:

The reason that this was passed is because there was some seasonal surge jobs that they can’t find local workers to fill, like the seafood packaging industry in Chesapeake Bay. You have seafood season, you need people to package those things, to can them. In the North, we have the summer tourism industry. What it is is there’s seasonal industries where they can’t find local people to do the jobs: kids are already in college or things like that where you have a surge in workers.

The real solution is to disband the minimum wage.

Yes!

It's also why they owned slaves.

Most of the products we get from China and other Oriental countries are made by children and women who are living in worse than slavery conditions.

We are getting cheap products on the backs of virtual slaves living in foreign countries.

"I want to know how much Paul Ryan’s net worth was when he entered Congress and how much it is today?
These asses are being paid off and we just let it happen.
I want him gone."

In my opinion the only way to limit (not end) the corruption is term limits for members of Congress. And the only way that's going to happen is an Article V Convention of the States to amend the Constitution. I support a Convention of the States to propose some limited Amendments to the US Constitution. In particular for enacting term limits for Congress and the federal judges, removing the 16th and 17th Amendments and other minor changes and limiting and more precisely defining the power of the Presidency. This would be a start but wouldn't solve all the of the our nation's governmental problems.

FWIW:
Representatives limited to four two year terms maximum.
Senators limited to two 6 year terms.
Federal judges limited to ten years on the bench.

So Ryan actually IS dumber than I thought he was.

For either believing this himself or thinking that we’d believe it.

Exactly. If we outlaw slavery here, we’ll just use slaves somewhere else in the world.

I agree with your post....but when I was growing up I was always told: “Why pay for the cow when the milk comes free?”

That taught me a lot and it’s true with the American companies firing Americans and hiring H1B visa people...the government is paying for or helping to pay the wages of these people, so why should these companies not take the governments help, they have been brain washed into thinking that is the way to do business....

That will all change when Trump gets into the Oval Office!!!

Exactly. If we outlaw slavery here, we’ll just use slaves somewhere else in the world.

If we had laws that punished the countries that used slave labor by either prohibiting their import or exacting huge tariffs on them, then we might not only help those people, but protect our own labor force.

The illegal aliens here have more or less replaced the slave population in that they are working for slave wages and taking away jobs from Americans.

And Ryan wants to import more slaves via the H2B program.

We have more than 11 million undocumented unskilled laborers. Isn't that enough?

Get rid of the minimum wage, and the minimum age. There is no reason in the society in which we live that a 12-17 year old should not and cannot go to work and make money. For those that would argue that companies will hire only the young, exploit them and burn them up like in some Dickensian drama.....come on, do you really believe that the parents or the children will put up with that? We can hardly get them to clean their rooms and take out the trash.
