Jeremy Corbyn has been accused of "cancelling Christmas" by refusing to issue a Christmas message.

The Labour leader has decided to break with recent tradition and not issue a message tomorrow on Christmas Eve.

Instead he will make his thoughts known ahead of New Year's Day.

Mr Corbyn's predecessor Ed Miliband issued messages to the nation on Christmas Eve both in 2014 and 2013.

Mr Corbyn's decision to not to send a Christmas message to Britain's Christians is in stark contrast to when he sent a message to British Muslims to mark the Muslim festival of Eid in September and a Tweet to mark the Hindi festival of Diwali last month.

Well, there are not many Christians left in UK compared to ages past. The Church of England is moribund, nobody much goes to church anymore. One figure shows that 25% of country parishes eg have ten or fewer attendees on Sunday.

There are evangelicals striving to keep the faith alive but they are not a large force. So maybe this guy is throwing in with the moslem population, which by contrast is growing.

Not the rest of the Labour Party: it was a majority of party members in the country which elected Corbyn in a ballot. It's the parliamentary Labour Party which loathes him - the majority of the other Labour Members of Parliament. Most of them were elected during the twenty years when the party was run by Blairite centrists, who hate the old-fashioned true Left which Corbyn represents.
