Washington Post: Ted Cruz uses his kids as political props
Washington Post ^ | December 22, 2015 | Ann Telnaes

There is an unspoken rule in editorial cartooning that a politician's children are off-limits. People don't get to choose their family members so obviously it's unfair to ridicule kids for their parent's behavior while in office or on the campaign trail- besides, they're children. There are plenty of adults in the political world who act childish, so there is no need for an editorial cartoonist to target actual children.

I've kept to that rule, except when the children are adults themselves or choose to indulge in grown-up activities (as the Bush twins did during the George W Bush presidency). But when a politician uses his children as political props, as Ted Cruz recently did in his Christmas parody video in which his eldest daughter read (with her father's dramatic flourish) a passage of an edited Christmas classic, then I figure they are fair game.

Like I’ve never seen Kennedy’s kids. I’ve never seen Carter’s kid. I’ve never seen Clinton’s kid. I’ve never seen Obama’s kids. I’m not entirely going to go into which are cute or not. By the way, before Cruz’s kids I did think Kennedy’s were cute. Some of the ones I didn’t mention were old enough when their father became president that I don’t want to comment because it would feel creepy. Others that were younger let the viewer decide.

If a man is a “fashionista” he’s also a metrosexual. Cruz is a plain, down-to-earth Texas guy and he’s just fine. His boots are his signature style, and he doesn’t need anything else.

God, when did women start thinking that fashion sense is an important male attribute?

lighten up! Not everything has to be serious.

While i’m on the subject of fashion, hitlery needs a fashion makeover too as well as michelle o.
whoever is their fashion coordinators are getting way overpaid

And look at this - he NEVER asks for money and people send it anyway. We do truly want to be part of this.

Financial reports filed last week show that more than 70 percent of the $3.9 million he raised from July through September came from people giving $200 or less. That rate of small-donor contributions is second only to Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, who’s in the Democratic race.

The average Trump contribution was $50.46, his campaign said.

The contributors are in small towns, suburbs and big cities. He’s raised money from hundreds of retirees, ranchers, dentists, physicians, real estate executives and financial consultants.

This is definitely Me Too Ted. Even his Saturday Night Live commercial, a play on Dr. Suess came on the heels of the Dr. Suess like book Jimmy Kimmel did to give Trump a hard time

I'm sure it had nothing to do with this.

Sorry, but Cruz was proposing a wall in 2011, when your boyfriend was hosting a reality TV show.

Looks like he copied Cruz.

"I’m so glad my candidate is self-funding."

Yeah, self-funding...and the billionaire has people like you sending him your hard earned money every month.

With a thank you card...LOL!

I’m just glad they aren’t smart enough to know when to keep their mouths shut.

It gives me plenty of material to post elsewhere to show what scumbags his supporters really are.

Please do not blame Cruz! He is a constitutional conservative! He is not to be blamed for pushing the cheap labor express. It is not at all his fault. Cruz is forced to do that by his rich donors. Blame his rich donors for Cruz pushing the cheap labor express. Cruz himself is pure as wind driven snow. If Cruz disobeys his rich donors, his political career will come to a crashing end in the next election! So please do not blame Cruz. Blame his rich donors.

Can't blame donors for Trump's Idiotcracy. He is his own man.

Oh, please, don’t tell me to “lighten up” because I don’t agree with you about metrosexuals. ;)

Yep, Hillary and Moochelle both are in desperate need, but what do you do when there’s no raw material to work with? In Michelle’s case, I think she has a total absence of taste.

I’ll be interested in seeing what kind of style Heidi Cruz brings to the White House. Honestly, I was never a fan of Laura Bush’s suits. They were appropriate, but sort of boring.

It’s true. But you know where this venom is coming from, don’t you? Cruz has them worried. They’re clawing their keyboards and gibbering like harpies because the thought of life without their Donald is too much to bear.

Your example is just one of many that have already been provided of instances in which liberal politicians used their children as props to convey a political message. The fact that this woman - I can’t use the appropriate word - chooses to justify THIS attack on Cruz’s daughters, just proves that she is the worst kind of hypocrite.

Can you imagine how he's laughed at by heads of state with that face? What an embarrassment.
