Cary's Greg Brannon files for U.S. Senate against Republican incumbent Richard Burr

Cary Republican Greg Brannon announced Monday that he is filing papers with the State Board of Elections to run for the U.S. Senate seat now held by two-term incumbent Richard Burr, a Winston-Salem Republican.

Brannon's campaign describes him as an anti-establishment candidate.

Brannon, an obstetrician, said in a news release that "politicians love to use words like 'the Constitution' or 'conservative' during election season to distract us from the truth. And the truth is, Richard Burr is part of the House of Cards Washington Cartel."

This is not Brannon’s first run for U.S. Senate.

In 2014, he ran unsuccessfully in the GOP primary against Charlotte pastor Mark Harris and then-state House Speaker Thom Tillis, who went on to win in the general election against then-incumbent Kay Hagan.

I’m not trying to be a jerk here, but do you honestly believe that the GOP did everything....employed ever Parliamentary tactic...played ever card possible that they could to stop Obamacare?

If you do, can you explain why Pelosi and Reid are so much better are shaping the agenda / stopping GOP “plans” as part of the minority than the GOP is at shaping/pushing as the majority?

If the roles were reversed and the Dems wanted to repeal/degrade Obamacare....is there any doubt that they would be successful given the exact same conditions as the GOP has?

As long we continue to elect soft non conservative GOP congressmen, we will get soft weak GOP leadership. That is where this battle is being lost.

I would rather be in the minority with fire breathing conservative leadership than in the majority with leadership like we currently have that has no interest in truly fighting for the will of the people.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Re repealing it with Obama still in office to veto any repeal or any budget that defunds it, I can’t see it happening without shutting down the government. The GOPE doesn’t think that would end well for us and I’m not sure they’re wrong so I’m not gonna bang my head against the wall over it.

A President Cruz, or Trump if you will could repeal it, but certainly not with Chuck E. Schumer as Senate Majority Leader or Christ forbid Nancy Pelosi as Speaker. If she had been Speaker all this time, this country would be over.

In any case, failing to go balls to the wall in an attempt to repeal something bad is not the same as passing it. Obamacare, Clinton’s tax hike, Great Society, New Deal. Most of that shite would not have been passed by Republicans. And given that we suck at getting rid of nasty legislation, giving the democrats a chance to pass more of it is not a risk I’m willing to take. Not to mention all these elderly Supreme Court Justices....

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this.

Merry Christmas to you and yours. :)
