Phyllis Schlafly, an icon of the conservative movement who has been active for half a century, is warning the nation: Donald Trump is the last hope for America.
Schlafly unloaded on Republicans in Congress for passing the $1.1 trillion omnibus bill last week, a move she called a “betrayal.â€
“This is a betrayal of the grassroots and of the Republican Party,†Schlafly said in an exclusive interview with WND. “We thought we were electing a different crowd to stand up for America, and they didn’t. We’re extremely outraged by what Congress has done. Nancy Pelosi couldn’t have engineered it any better. I think the people are going to react by electing Donald Trump.â€
Trump put out a statement Friday to ABC News saying, “If anyone needs more evidence of why the American people are suffering at the hands of their own government, look no further than the budget deal announced by Speaker Ryan. In order to avoid a government shutdown, a cowardly threat from an incompetent president, the elected Republicans in Congress threw in the towel and showed absolutely no budget discipline.â€

I can’t believe she’s still alive. Either way, I never liked her. I saw (and see, I guess) her as the sort of person who personified what people hate about what they conservatives are - judgmental, petty, mean, self-righteous. Always struck me as basically a right-wing Bella Abzug.
Trump has got his first meaningful endorsement. Nobody is more authentic conservative then her, I listen to her she has seldom been wrong and at 90 years old she still has more working grey cells than all Fox’s talking heads combined.
Trump ought to see if she will do his first real TV commercial, that would be a Coup.

Phyllis, I love you and you’ve been in the trenches a long, long time. Too long, maybe. Take some time off and get some air.

When she tells it like it is, and she unfailingly does so, we know it’s the truth and to the letter.
No one, including you, can tell me the difference between TRUMP and Cruz, but Phyliss just did.
Ignore her at our own peril.

She’s also been against rebalancing powers and redressing roles between federal and state governments using Article V of the Constitution. She lives in Beltway Land and is slow to get the clear picture as the Potomac water makes people very dim, dense.
Donald Trump is not the last hope, but he’s an essential preserver of the last hope which is the Article V movement in resurrecting powers that were decimated by the 17th Amendment. Ted Cruz could be a preserver as well but he is not penetrating as broadly as Donald Trump.
If the democrat party wins or steals the White House in 2016, Article V is lost because they will move quickly to import a voting base that will keep them in power beyond our lifetimes.
She is obviously not infallible. I’ve disagreed with her before. It is good to sometimes disagree with someone lest you be tempted to elevate them too high, give them too much power, and even possibly fall into idolatry.

Trump - trumpet - trumpettes. Pronounced like the middle one. I just chose that spelling because it made it refer to people instead of an object.
Perhaps Phyllis holds a similar view. Certainly she's hitting that theme in her column.
