I am convinced it’s because Trump is a threat to the status quo, the Network, the Establishment, or whatever euphemism you call it.

But he is a threat to The Glorious Cause Of World Socialism, and that is enough to earn himself and anyone who supports him death threats, as evidenced on the campaign trail and in social media from the ACLU.
