A modern-day variation on "better red than dead" . . . Joe Scarborough says that Haley Barbour and many Republican leaders would "much rather" have Hillary be president than to let Trump win and represent the GOP.
On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough said that if it looks like Trump will win the nomination, something Scarborough sees as very plausible, he envisions Mitt Romney or Michael Bloomberg jumping into the race as a third-party candidate. Not really with the goal of winning, but rather to "take a bullet," splitting the vote and denying Trump the White House.

Haley Barbour’s got one vote... He should become a Democrat and vote for Hillary.
After what Haley did in the Cochran/McDaniels election I believe it.
As if the Thad Cochran mess wasn’t enough-these rats are certainly getting smoked out now, if they weren’t before.
You know, that’s been on my mind a lot-that the straw that broke the camel’s back in precipating the Revolutionary War was a tax on tea. We’ve swallowed much, much worse than that in recent years, and can’t even get a really large march on DC together, not even when Hussein is going to pull God knows what now in infringing upon our Second Amendment rights, if that doesn’t move us, I don’t know if anything will.
Oh, they’re coming out of the woodwork now, now that there’s a real threat to their little Uniparty gravy train and grip on power (public servants, my azz). They never cared a damn about CommieCare, they are exempt. All a bunch of meaningless bleating, but now (and this says nothing about what I think of Trump as President, I can’t really get a reading on him yet, it’s going to come down to what my choices are when crunch time comes), when someone is saying things (Trump) that they never wanted to be brought up so that they wouldn’t be forced to take an unequivocal stance on them, they’re making no bones about showing their true colors.
I have to admit, the way he dealt with Katrina was admirable. But that didn’t involve taking any stance on conservative principles, not really. Since then, he’s been in positions where he was forced to show that he’s either really conservative or a GOPe shill, and he’s made that perfectly clear-shill.
I think they’d like to lose their conservative base, we have been shackling their hands from being who they really are, and replace us with other voting blocs. Hence the pandering to other blocs, which can be bought for the mere peanuts (to them, not to the taxpayer) of some more freebies, whereas conservatives won’t be bought-the left is always scratching their heads about why we vote “against our own best interests”, even as they deride us as a bunch of greedy fat cats. More leftist cognitive dissonance, or hypocrisy.
Well of course he would rather have Hillary. The corrupt express would keep on chugging down the line. Everybody gets to wet their beak.
We need to remake the Mississippi Republican party and dump Haley’s minions. I’m sure cochran will retire soon and haley will have too much say in his replacement. Vote out Wicker Harper and Kelly.
Good ole Boss Haley and that motorcycle gang of trash that passes as the Republican Party in Mississippi at work again...
