The key word I read was “legal residency” in other articles, at least that isn’t citizenship.
“legal residency” until a wall is built; but not giving them a pathway to citizenship” I paraphrase. It’s compromises, I’d find it hard to say a position of the other candidates is much better; Trump has you can go back to your country and if you have been good, go through the proper channels. So, in effect, they all may compromise (except 1 percenter Santorum).
So, I don’t mind Cruz’s position wholly on this, I do think Cruz is twisting the English language though when he says he’s never been for amnesty, amnesty is forgiving breaking the law and that is what giving legal residency seems to do, thin lines indeed as to meaning.
This is precisely what the "Trump is better on illegal immigration" crowd don't get or refuse to acknowledge! Every time I bring it up there's just crickets from those types of people.
To the types who refuse to see the admittedly subtle yet still powerful maneuver Cruz pulled in the bill in question (the "poison pill"): Granting just even for a second Cruz "is for amnesty" (which I don't grant for the record but just saying he is for a moment), the Trump supporters MUST then acknowledge HIS (Trump's) repeated statements that he would "let the good ones back in" (after deporting them all) . This is just a FACT that he's said this. A fact. Repeatedly.
And its AMNESTY, no matter how you spin it. Trump is for amnesty. In his own words.
So the issue is a PUSH, at BEST for the hapless Trumpeter, but again they don't get it. It's like some blindness has affected them, overcome them like the Obama cult that rose up in 2008. It's shocking and sad really.
