This isnât the first time weâve reported this. But considering all the misinformation and nonsense being pushed by a lot of Rubio supporters who refuse to be intellectually honest about this, I decided to republish this.
This video is at the heart of the misinformation:
Amanda Carpenter, who used to work for Ted Cruz in the Senate, explains why Ted Cruz âproposedâ the legalization of illegals during the Gang of 8 bill, as you see in the video.
In short, it wasnât that Cruz wanted to legalize illegals, but rather Cruz was brilliantly exposing how the Gang of 8 bill was all about a path to citizenship and not fixing the immigration system and border enforcement as the Gang of 8 would have had you believe.

Isn't that lawyer-speak for maybe?
He doesn’t support it, he just proposed it, because he doesn’t want it. You betcha.
you opened the article?
No.
I don’t support legalization and don’t intend to support legalization.
Where’s the legal speak in my statement?
This is the only thing I don’t like about Cruz.
This is a tactic used by both Cruz and Sessions in the Gang of 8 Bill. You can’t seriously think Sessions wants legalization? It is a “poison pill” parliamentary procedure used to kill bad bills.
Poison Pill amendment strategy! To all have ears to hear hear!
Here's the money quote: "So Cruz said ok, here are some amendments that do everything EXCEPT path to citizenship. And the Gang killed them exposing the big hoax."
Replace “intend” with “won’t” and you’ve said something I can support.
These Trumpsters are starting to remind me of the Paulbots.
Not enough tinfoil in Wal-Mart for me to believe this twisted, tortured, convolutedly-implausible explanation.
If this were true, he’d simply have added an amendment to deny citizenship.
This is total bull stuff and the Cruz folks know it.
Ted Cruz supported illegal aliens staying inside our nation as part of his idea on how to fix the illegal alien problem.
It wasn’t just in this hearing. He supported it with statements before and after those hearings.
As late as circa July 2015, Ted was interviewed and asked something to the effect of, what about the good ones, can any of them stay. Ted stated, we can find a way.
This presentation on this tread is not true.
That’s something that really troubles me about Ted.
He knew what the laws of our nation were. He was supposed to have one of the best Constitutional minds around.
None the less, when it came to illegal aliens, Ted didn’t think it necessary to enforce the laws of our nation until now when he wants to be president.
I’ve had it with the Cruz team around here.
This guy is a lying two faced ass.
I’m going to do a workup on this and post it on the forum.
Then you folks can deal with what Ted really is.
Better still, he could have added an amendment that mandated a wall first, and THEN denied citizenship.
That’s precisely what his amendments did.
Again, the question: do you believe Jeff Sessions is for amnesty through legalization? The talk on FR for months has been how Seasions and Trump put their heads together to formulate the best immigration policy. How then is it so unbelievable that Sessions and Cruz worked so well on these Gang of 8 amendments?
So, the sour grapes are only with the Cruz crowd, FRiend? Your tagline is illustrative.
Bring it. We’re quite fed up with you as well.
