I see no comparison between this situation and 1964. The world is a different place. The state run media no longer has a monopoly on information. They are now competing with hundreds of news sources, blogs, talk radio, and networks. And the people who do vote, are frankly far better informed today, than when ABC/CBS/NBC controlled the narrative. Hillary is going to have to run defensively. She has no accomplishments, and only scandals in her past. She cannot run as a woman of peace, or as someone strong enough to defeat ISIS. She cannot even run on diplomacy as her time as SOS was a major disaster. Her irrational outbursts are legendary, and so she can’t even campaign as the more reasonable choice. Splash a little water of truth on her and she will melt.

What Cruz said, again in a PRIVATE fundraiser, is in no way an attack. Calling someone a maniac on a national tv interview is an attack. And the fact that he borrowed progressive talking points shows very poor judgment - as pointed out by Limbaugh, Levin and others. The left is going to be nasty no matter what. What both candidates must remember is that they stand no chance to win if they alienate the Conservative grassroots. If they don’t get them motivated, its over. Calling the biggest champion for Conservative principles in the Senate a maniac does not make Trump look more appealing. It reinforces an opinion that he is like many progressives, who will do and say whatever it takes to win.

Suggesting you are more qualified to be POTUS than the competition is simply a contrast. I will stick to that assessment unless someone produces audio or video proof beyond what the article quotes. I have heard Cruz speak often, and noted that he has rarely attacked his competition, including Trump, even when it was the popular thing to do.

We should not fear Hillary at all. You nominate any decent Conservative and she will lose in a landslide. She is not even liked in her own party, although the devout left would vote for Satan if he was on the ticket. Instead, they will have to settle for one of his minions.

The only way the GOP loses is if Trump’s ego gets the best of him and he pulls a Perot, going 3rd party. I am personally eager to see the field dramatically shrink and see a substantive debate between Trump and Cruz. I think only good could come from that scenario.

Did you listen to the recording?

Smug Cruz - The Full Recording of Ted Cruz Comments About Donald Trump and Ben Carson…

No way an attack? Teddy Cruz is impugning Donald Trump's character to movers and shakers behind closed doors to suck dollars from their pockets. In effect saying bet on me because you cannot trust Trump with WMD's but you will not call that an attack.
