Well said.
I don’t know Rush has remained so neutral. Like me he loves Cruz. Neither of us would vote for a fake with an actual principled conservative in the race.
Count me as one who will not vote Trump if he happens to be nominated. Still think his mouth will take him out.
“So he’s decided to go after Cruz here in the way the establishment Republicans go after Cruz, in the way the media goes after Cruz, in the way the Democrats go after Cruz. He’s essentially put on his John McCain hat here and is saying, “I’m Donald McCain, and I’m the guy that can cross the aisle and work with the other side. Ted Cruz can’t.” I was kind of surprised by that.” - Rush Limbaugh
It's good to see Rush dealing with the question that was on my mind: "Why in the world go after Cruz in the same way the establishment has?"
My answer was (1) To win non-Cruz voters to his side, and (2) To say, "You think I'm odd. He's odd too. So you've gotta pick one oddball or the other. Pick me."
Rush on Trump's thinking:
He's come across as somebody who's gonna beat somebody in negotiations, who's gonna beat them down. He's gonna tell them how it's gonna be. This... This is so obvious. You know, I'll tell you what this is. This is obviously the Trump campaign deciding to use the most common criticism against Cruz because they see that Cruz has negatives. They see that Cruz is not liked by the Republican establishment, and so they're just piggybacking on that, I think, as a way for Trump to maybe score some points with the Republican establishment.
Rush comes down nearly where I did. I viewed it from the perspective of the voter/supporter, and Rush did from the perspective of the republican party.
The bottom line is that Rush viewed it from the angle that I did from as early as this morning.
I’m amazed that Trump has remained a stalwart in the face of huge establishment adversity from all corners. They’ve even gone after his business interests under the guise of political correctness.
Remember how the establishment media attacked George Zimmerman in mass, with lies and false innuendos? Their elites goal is to take out Trump and put Cruz on a pinnacle for a short time. Cruz will be an easy mark because he is wholly dependent on establishment money. They will keep him quiets until they install one of their own who favors immigration and illegals. Trump represents a threat because he is mostly uncontrollable.
Filling our country with 200 million 3rd worlders working for pennies on the dollar and being highly manipulable is what the GOPe wants.
And yet the Polls have Cruz doing better against Clinton than Trump against Clinton. But you just believe what you want. I remember in 1980 people were voting for Bush because Reagan couldn't win.
cherry picking the quotes....why don’t you quote the Donald McCain and the Donald McCain mimmick and sugar coat that?
You are the one cherry picking. I’m dealing with what I addressed this morning, the reason for Trump going with the establishment arguments against Cruz.
Can’t you read?
You are one hundred percent correct!!! Trump will win...Cruz, while a great Conservative, (Cruz has an extemely limted base of voter support) will not!!! Shame on Rush Limbaugh...he should know, w are all fighting for our beloved country to survive...not any ideology!!! For goodnss sake, Traitors, Obama, Clinton, the Obamabot Media, the “turncoat” Republican Establishment RINOs are killing the country!!! Wake up....Rush.....Cruz is good man......but he cannot win in this scenerio!!! Go Donald Trump!!!!
Actually Cruz parroted the media’s line on Trump but behind closed doors like a coward.
“Still think his mouth will take him out.”
Let’s hope it does.
Cruz proved his point.
Trump doesn’t have the judgment to be president and his finger on the nuke button.
Trumps pattern of striking out at anyone he feels has slighted him is what makes other countries leaders nervous.
Trump will implode sooner or later. The 41% poll is hocus-pocus. Rush comes as close as one could to give Cruz his firm endorsement.
it “was” an endorsement ...
The caller (I only read the transcript) sounded just like any number of FReepers who are die-hard Trump supporters, and Rush uses the caller to illustrate their ... limitations ... the way a lot of us do here!
{^)
I am very happy to see Rush be so clear.
Cruz should very nicely respond something like this:
I like Donald Trump. I wish every American businessman were as successful as Donald Trump. We agree on many issues, disagree on a few. I am not going to attack him and get in a fight with him or any other republican candidate.
But Donald criticizes me for being unable to make deals. Well, itââ¬â¢s just this kind of deal making that got us in trouble. We donââ¬â¢t need deal-makers like McConnell, Boehner, and Ryan; we need someone with a proven record of standing up for the principles and values of the American people and the Constitution.
The content is a little lacking, too.
Some of the things I’m hearing/reading he’s saying don’t make sense. And now he’s going after Cruz?
O...
K...
I think EITHER could.
But then, I think our local dogcatcher could whup -->H!
