Rush Limbaugh said today on his radio show that Donald Trumpâs attack on Ted Cruz over the weekend, calling him a âmaniacâ given the way heâs dealt with McConnell and others in the Senate, is not an attack a genuine conservative would make and it has raised a red flag for him: While I would certainly vote for Trump if he were the nominee, Iâve never thought he was a genuine conservative. But I do think heâs tried in some ways to bridge his positions with conservatism and I think he generally leans in that direction.
At the end of the day though, if he becomes president, I expect a lot of compromise with Congress, especially on his more conservative positions â and I know that going into the voting booth. If you expect something different you might be in for a big surprise.
This is also why I support Ted Cruz. I do expect him to compromise with Congress as well, as he has said as much, but I donât believe he will go so far as to compromise his principles.

Rush lost his best prep ghost person in March 2011- he has let some things get by him since then that would not otherwise. THIS being a prime example.
This is very CONCERNING.
Here’s an audio of what Cruz actually said. Pretty mild and to a private audience. The msm of course blew it up and The Donald overreacted.

Wow. Interesting shot by Rush on the way out...
And, obviously, Sen. Ted Cruz.
“Trump must have a soft spot for Ted.”
That’s true, when you consider the pile of opponents left in his wake. Trump was surprisingly mild.
And yet getting the endorsement of the RNC kings in Iowa didn’t bother you one bit.
His immigration plans from three years ago don’t bother you a bit.
His vote on Croker didn’t bother you.
HIs vote on TPA didn’t bother you.
You folks have a very selective number of things that really bother you.
A guy flat out lies to you in real time, and you think that’s okay.
Yikes.
Mr. “Have I Got an Excuse for You” sure has you folks tied up in knots.
Doesn’t bother any of you who your fellow travelers are either.
GOPe
RNC
DNC
MSM Talking Heads
MSM Pundits
MSM News Papers
Internet bloggers that used to be Conservative, and are now demonstrably not
You folks need to wake up and realize that for every blinder you think the Trump folks are wearing, you folks are wearing two.
one to deny Trumps current platform
two to ignore who his enemies are and who your palls are
As Cruz rises, the Rubio/Carson/Bush inclined will migrate to Cruz as the best alternative to the orange liberal.
So now you’re going to denigrate Patton’s name with that chart Isara has been posting for months, that contains serious misrepresentations?
Good grief how you folks support a man you say is a good Christian and has good morals.
It’s a mistake to tell the truth? How can it be a mistake to tell the truth?
All Trump can do is attack Cruz’s conservatism. I really really wish he’d double down.
How is pointing out the fact that most politicians are propped up (or owned) by string-pulling crony capitalists an attack from the left? We’ve all been saying this for as long as I can remember.
And there are success stories of non-politicians (even some with not so sterling conservative backgrounds) making great presidents, y’know. Patriotism, love for God, family, country makes all the difference in the world. That, and leadership and communications skills. Trump has it in spades. And it’s not even costing that much money. He’s spent a tiny fraction of what the others have and he’s dominating the race. He doesn’t need and doesn’t want money from the crony capitalist string pullers.
Folks aren’t using any context at all when posting that short sound-byte, and I’m fairly sure you can grasp that.
Â¥es it was a really cheap shot at Trump on the way out.
Thank you Rush for providing all the fodder needed for the debate tomorrow.
Lamest. Rush. Take. Ever.
The criticism that Cruz doesn’t know how to “work with” the other side is absolutely true. Rush’s problem is he assumes works with means to compromise or lose to the Democrats. What about Trump makes him think that is what he means? The reality is Cruz has gotten almost nothing done even though he has tried. Obamacare is the law of the land, there is no wall built and the Refugees from Syria have no problem coming over to the United States. These are the facts. Cruz tried to make an issue about Obamacare and it was a complete an utter failure. He got NO ONE backing him. If that is what you can look forward to in a Cruz Presidency then what’s the point? Does anyone think if Trump was in the Senate and wanted to focus on the Obamacare he wouldn’t be able to make a HUGE issue out of it and does anyone honestly think he would have gotten absolutely nothing out of it like Cruz got? That is the difference between the two. Cruz complained about it and he thinks he deserves points for that. That’s what politicians do. They talk and talk and talk and nothing gets done and that’s exactly Trump’s point; he’s absolutely right when it comes to Cruz.
Rush did not do a short soundbyte...he fully laid out the context...that Trump was sounding like McCain for this specific line of attack. He further made it clear that this was disappointing because Trump had been attacking the establishment, and now he was parrotting them.
That you can’t get that....is really indicative of a very moderate processor you have.
Not a conservative for pointing out crony capitalism?
